"I need a suit," I announce randomly, one day when we're watching TV and Newt said he felt like taking a walk on his own with music and all.
Mom's head turns to me. "Yeah?"
I nod. "Yeah. Newt and I are going to the camp's ball next week."
"Well, we can make that work," she says. "Do you want to go shopping for it? Order online?"
"I might have a suit left—"
"Absolutely not, Sebastian." She chuckles. "Do you have anything in mind?"
"Ehm. Something that I can paint on?" I try.
Mom easily agrees with a shrug, "Sure. We'll go look tomorrow. Ask if Newt wants to come with you."
"I will." Both of us turn back to the TV. A thought pops up in my mind not even three seconds later. Newt's not here now. The opportunity to talk about it. "Also, eh, what I said as I was under anesthesia... that wasn't like, a lie," I say slowly.
"I know," Dad says.
I wait for more to come out of his mouth, but those two simple words seem to be everything I'll get. "You don't mind?"
"No. Not at all."
"Neither do I," Mom adds.
I turn back to the screen for a second time, frowning. Then I stare at Dad again. "I'm talking about the fact that I'm gay and dating Newt, do you know that?"
"Yes. As I said, I don't mind, Lyndon." He flashes a smile at me. "You're okay."
I nod. It feels strange, but good, I guess. It takes a while for the thought to get through my head. They accept. No, of course they accept. Why would they not?
"When's Lelia coming home?" I then ask. "We can go shop for clothes with her, too. Minho must've asked her by now."
"You'll have to call her to ask," Dad says.

A week later, Lelia, Teresa, Fry, and I have gathered in Lelia's room. Newt, Thomas, and Minho went to Minho's house to get ready for the ball. We invited Fry because he doesn't have a date. I'm pretty sure Winston is with the other boys. No idea about the rest.
"Look. I had this great idea. Matching pajamas. Batman pajamas," Lelia explains.
"Girl, no. Your prom dress is literally right there and it's stunning. You have to wear that. Not pajamas." Teresa shakes her head, pointing at the dress Lelia wore last year.
