Three hours after sunrise wherein morning birds sing their lullabies, ray of light pierces through the curtain hanging at the window of Flint's living room.
Clad in his white long-sleeved polo tucked in his jeans, ready and is about to go to the police station, Flint is sitting on the couch, facing a woman sitting in a single-seat couch who visited him in an early hour.
"Lara has it. . ." the woman, Maia, begins while staring at her hands. Rumehistro naman ang pagtataka sa hitsura ni Flint nang marinig ang sinabi ng kaibigan. Before continuing her words, she lifts her gaze to him, meeting his eyes. "The black box recording, she's keeping it from us."
Hindi na nagulat ang lalaki sa sinabi ng kausap. He knew that Elara was hiding something from him. Doon pa lang sa sinabi nito noong nakaraang nag-taxi raw ito papunta sa luma niyang condo, Flint knew that she was lying. Dahil bago mag-black out sa buong building ay nahagip ng surveillance camera ang pag-park ni Elara ng kaniyang kotse sa parking lot.
"I told her to surrender it within this day, but I doubt that she will." Maia exhales a scoff while averting her eyes from Flint. "That fool even kneeled before me, begging to give her time." She sighs. "It's absurd but. . .she does love Kol Aiden."
Napatingin ito kay Flint na ang mga mata'y nasa baba. She sees how pain begins to swirl in his eyes after hearing her last statement.
Namayani ang katahimikan sa pagitan ng dalawa ng ilang minuto. Subalit hindi rin nagtagal nang muling magsalita ang babae.
"Here."
Flint looks at her with a confused-look masking on his face. Ngunit agad na napadapo ang tingin nito sa kamay ni Maia nang may inabot ito sa kaniyang isang envelope.
"What's these?" Flint queries as he takes out a couple of papers from the envelope after grabbing it from the woman's hand.
"The blueprint of Kol Aiden's mansion."
Those words make him lift his gaze to Maia with his eyes widen in shock. He is speechless for seconds, confounded on his seat.
"W-Where did you get these?" tanong nito at ibinaling ang mga paningin sa hawak na papel. "You acquired these illegally, didn't you?"
"Does it even matter?!" bulyaw ni Maia at napaiwas ng tingin. Bago magsalita ay napatikhim muna ito. "I found out that L&E company co-engineered that mansion. . .so Leo helped me with that. He does everything I ask him to do," she explains in a coyly manner.
"Tsk. You're taking the man's feeling for granted," Flint retorts without looking at her.
"Hoy, hindi ah! Hindi ako gano'n kasama. Grabe ka naman," depensa naman ng kausap.
