Y/n had always been the adventurous type, so joining the Australian Army seemed like a natural path for her. Her travels and experiences had taken her around the world, but she never imagined they'd lead her to a fateful reunion with her old family friend, Renee Rapp.

Renee, a rising star in the entertainment industry, had taken a personal break from the limelight to recharge in Los Angeles. She enjoyed her time away from the bustling life, but the solitude occasionally got the better of her. On one such day, Y/n was in town for a demo of the Australian Army's new medical program. She'd spent the entire day in a whirlwind of presentations and hands-on demonstrations, showing the American counterparts the advances her team had made.

As Y/n finally wrapped up, her phone buzzed with an unexpected call. It was Renee's manager, sounding anxious. "Y/n, thank goodness. Renee's not feeling well, and I can't get to her right now. I heard you were in town. Can you check on her?"

Without hesitation, Y/n agreed. By the time she reached Renee's place, it was around 5 PM. She knocked but received no response. Remembering the spare key's hiding place from countless childhood visits, she let herself in.

The sight that greeted her was heartbreaking. Renee lay asleep on the couch, a box of tissues on the coffee table, and a throw-up bag precariously dangling from her hand. Y/n's training kicked in. She carefully cleaned up, then gently lifted Renee and carried her to bed.

In the kitchen, Y/n prepared some soup, hoping the warm broth might help. Just as she was about to check on Renee, she heard the bathroom door slam. She rushed in to find Renee vomiting into the toilet. Y/n knelt beside her, rubbing her back soothingly. Renee, weak and exhausted, collapsed into Y/n's arms. Without a second thought, Y/n carried her to the car and drove her to the hospital.

For the next week, Y/n stayed by Renee's side, helping her with everything she needed. Their bond, forged in childhood, had only grown stronger. One night, as Renee ventured out for a glass of water, she saw Y/n fast asleep on the couch, wrapped in a quilt blanket Renee had given her. Y/n's presence was a comfort like no other.

Renee noticed a document lying on the coffee table. It was Y/n's deployment orders to a rehabilitation camp overseas. Her heart sank. The thought of Y/n leaving tore at her, but she knew Y/n had no choice. Quietly, she approached the couch and pressed a gentle kiss to Y/n's forehead. As she turned to go back to her room, Y/n's hand reached out in her sleep, grabbing Renee's. Y/n pulled her close, hugging her tightly. Renee felt a sense of safety wash over her and drifted off to a peaceful sleep in Y/n's arms.

The day of Y/n's departure came too soon. At the airport, emotions ran high. Just as Y/n was about to board, she turned and kissed Renee, a promise of their connection despite the distance. They kept in touch, video-calling whenever possible. Renee became a beloved presence among Y/n's army mates, her laughter and love bridging the miles between them. Months passed, and Y/n's longing to return to Renee grew. She decided to leave the army and build a life together with Renee. When she finally landed in L.A., Renee's manager was there to greet her, driving her to Renee's house. It was 1 AM when Y/n quietly let herself in. She found Renee asleep on the couch, a movie playing softly in the background.

Y/n dropped her bags and lay beside Renee, turning off the TV. As she settled in, Renee rolled over, instinctively wrapping her arms around Y/n and nestling her face into Y/n's neck. She mumbled something in her sleep that made Y/n smile. Content and whole, Y/n closed her eyes and drifted into a peaceful sleep, knowing she was finally home.

The first rays of dawn filtered through the window, gently illuminating Renee's face. She stirred, blinking sleepily, and felt the warm weight of Y/n's arms around her. For a moment, a peaceful smile graced her lips until she remembered the events of the previous night.

Renee had woken up before Y/n, and in an attempt to rouse her, discovered Y/n was unresponsive. Panic surged through her as she frantically dialled 911. The paramedics arrived swiftly, and Renee's heart raced as they rushed Y/n to the hospital. Y/n was placed in a medically induced coma, and the next three days were a blur of anxiety and fear for Renee. She barely left Y/n's side, watching over her with a mix of hope and dread.

It was the middle of the night when Y/n finally woke up. Her eyes fluttered open to see Renee slumped in the chair next to her bed, softly snoring. The sound was a soothing reassurance in the sterile hospital room. A nurse came in, checked Y/n's vitals, and asked if they could lift Renee onto the bed. As they carefully moved her, Renee stirred, opening her eyes slightly and smiling when she saw Y/n awake. She hugged Y/n tightly and fell back asleep, comforted by her presence.

The next morning, the doctor explained to Y/n what had happened. The medical jargon was daunting, but Y/n understood she had a long road to recovery. She had sustained an injury in the field, which left one of her legs immobile. Renee dedicated herself to helping Y/n, but the process was slow and disheartening, and Y/n found herself slipping into a depressive phase. One morning, Y/n was reading on the couch with Renee asleep on her lap. She absentmindedly shifted her leg and realized, with a jolt of surprise, that she had moved it. She wanted to let Renee sleep, so she kept the discovery to herself. Later, when Renee woke up, she saw Y/n's leg twitch and then move. Amazed, she chose not to wake Y/n and instead hugged her tightly, cherishing the progress.

Months passed, and their bond grew unbreakable. Renee had an upcoming tour and wanted Y/n to come along. She found Y/n asleep with a book about to fall from her hand. Gently taking the book, Renee's movement woke Y/n slightly. Renee excitedly told her about the tour, and Y/n, though tired, nodded in agreement before falling back asleep. Renee climbed into bed and continued talking softly to Y/n, but soon heard her soft snores and realized Y/n was asleep again. The tour was going splendidly. Surrounded by friends and, of course, Y/n, Renee felt complete. One day on the road, Renee came out of the main bedroom on the bus and saw her friends playing a backing tune. Y/n started to sing "Guard Down" by August Moon from *The Idea Of You*. Renee stood in shock, amazed at Y/n's singing talent.

Later that night, everyone gathered in the room, doing their own thing. Y/n was discussing a book with one of Renee's friends when they all looked up, hearing soft snores. Y/n glanced down and saw Renee fast asleep, mouth wide open. The group shared a quiet laugh, and Y/n smiled, continuing their conversation quietly.

When Renee woke up, she saw Y/n sitting upright, asleep. One of her friends explained that Y/n had fallen asleep mid-conversation. Renee smiled, carefully repositioning Y/n's head onto a pillow. Y/n sighed contentedly in her sleep. Renee's friend observed, "You love her, don't you?" Renee nodded, her friend said goodnight, and Renee lay down next to Y/n. Her soft snores began again, perfectly synced with Y/n's.

As the sun rose, the bus was filled with soft morning light. Renee's friends woke up and saw the heartwarming sight: Renee was asleep with her mouth open, snoring softly, and Y/n was softly snoring in sync, her arms wrapped around Renee. It was a scene of perfect harmony and love, a testament to their unbreakable bond. They covered the two with the quilt that Renee gave to Y/n and let the two sleep.
