"Whats happened? i heard fighting!" Rue yelled running back into the small camp, her eyes fell on Merlin who was hunched over Balinor and a few of Cenreds men that lay dead on the ground. Merlin looked up at her, face red and his eyes puffy it was only then she realised Balinor was dead. "Oh Merlin-"
"Camelot is doomed." The prince sighed.
"We need to head back to Camelot and warn everyone." ____
"Merlin!" The red head called out, running up to the boy. The boy turned to her with a half smile. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there when Cenreds men attacked, I'm feeling awfully guilty, like if I was there nothing bad would of happened. How are you holding up?"
"Its not your fault Ruelle and I'm okay just dealing with it. I've actually just got Arthur in his armour, we're going to fight the dragon."
"We're?" Rue questioned with a deadpanned expression. "You're leaving too, without me?"
"Yes, i need to be there for Arthur and as a dragon lord, there's still a chance we can stop him." Merlin explained causing the ward to scoff before pounding on Arthurs chambers.
"ARTHUR!" The red head yelled. The prince swung the door open before she managed to yell again, a look of worry sown across his face. "If Merlin is going, i am coming with you both."
"There is no way in hell you are coming with us, my father wouldn't allow it."
"And when has that ever stopped me before?" Rue quipped.
"Absolutely not. I don't suppose your brother would be overly happy if he got word that his sister got turned to a pile of ashes by a dragon would he?"
"No.. but i will just simply not become a pile of ashes. Now lets go."
"Merlin?" Arthur huffed before opening his chambers door. Merlin threw Arthur the key for the door then pushed Ruelle in the room. She fell flat on her arse as gasped in shocked. As quick as she got pushed in Arthur locked the door.
"What do you think you're doing?" Rue yelled running up to the door.
"I knew you was going to demand to come with us but you're staying here." Arthur said, voice cooly.
"Merlin please let me out! You cant do this, you always let me come with you." This time no one answered. "Hello?" Nothing. "Don't think I wont jump out your window Arthur!" Ruelle yelled, storming over to the window and peering out at the huge drop. "Never mind" She whispered in defeat.
"I'm being abandoned yet again." The red head sighed, sitting on the window pressing her forehead against the glass, watching her two friends and a handful of knights head off to their potential deaths. _____
"Ruelle! Are you not going to congratulate me.. and Merlin for slaying the dragon." Arthur questioned smugly from the doorway as he unlocked and opened the door to his chambers. Merlin stood behind him with a big grin on his face.
"No." Ruelle said sternly brushing past both the prince and Merlin. Arthur frowned.
"Ruelle? I apologise if I upset you but it was to keep you safe." Arthur said gently. Rue stopped walking and turned swiftly, facing the two boys.
"If you failed you realise you would've locked me in a room while Camelot burnt. You didn't even tell anyone else I was in here, my only way out would've been that window, i don't think that's keeping me safe, so no, I'm not upset Arthur I'm merely pissed off." She said calmly then turned back around before stopping again. Merlin looked shocked while Arthurs face showed disbelief. "Oh and its Lady Ruelle from now on."
She carried on walking with her head held high, that is until she got round the corner and out of sight from the two, she nearly started laughing. "Their faces were priceless, that'll show them for leaving me." she whispered triumphally. Her plan was set in motion, she will simply let them simmer in guilt for a few days or a week, depending on how she feels.

It may have taken me 5 months to get from chapter 10-11 but here we are🤩
I'm going to be honest with whoever stranger danger is reading this. My motivation for writing is gone by a big chunk, it's hard to get back into the character for Rue and i cannot for the life of me get back into that writing style so rip to that ig. But i want to see this book through and ill try harder and dedicate more time to it, because Gwaines a hottie and Rue needs her man😌🤚
