"YOU BROUGHT BACK john gilbert?" damon asked lae incredulously. damon, lae, stefan, and i all stood in the salvatore manor. "that was your big 'save elena' move?"
"i went to go look for isobel and i got john instead," lae explained with a shrug. "we're desperate—if you don't remember—and he offered to help us!"
"we're not that desperate, laertes!" damon insisted.
i was on damon's side in the whole save elena bit now. yes, bringing klaus here would help me meet my soulmate, but elena and elijah wanted to kill him, so i didn't want any part of that.
"john gilbert is an asshole and a half," i stated, digging my fingers into my temples before dragging my hands down my face out of stress and frustration.
"the guy tried to barbecue me!" damon added.
"damon," lae began, "bonnie's new witch friend is working with elijah, so we have to assume that the moonstone was never destroyed. elena is putting all of her faith into some deal that she made with elijah to keep everyone safe. c'mon, do you trust elijah? 'cause i don't trust him. never will, personally. and we can't just stake him in the heart because that totally worked last time-"
"still waiting for the part where john gilbert's the answer," damon cut him off.
stefan was staying silent because he no longer had any stakes in this. i was far removed and he wasn't super invested if i wasn't effected. "he knew about the sacrifice," lae stated, "isobel told him. he said he knew of a way to keep elena safe."
"and how is that, exactly?" i questioned.
"he's not talking," lae said quickly, "not to me."
"great work, laertes. top notch!" damon complimented sarcastically. "as if i didn't have enough problems." damon walked out after that, visibly frustrated.
i gave lae a weak smile. "A for effort, i suppose."
he sighed and shrugged. "damon just has yet to realize the greatness of my plan that is still in development."
i furrowed my eyebrows and tilted my head. "uh- yeah, sure, let's go with that."
i thought, for a second, about rose and trevor. they were helpful, yet after the werewolf scare they left town. i kinda missed them, but at least they were still living and breathing.
stefan's phone buzzed and he read a text. he then tilted the screen towards me and i saw it was from caroline. it read: "911 NOW."

"WHAT'S WRONG?" STEFAN asked as care opened her front door. i was worried because she was on tyler duty, the rest of us being somewhat far removed from that situation besides mason's part in it.
