I have yet to watch the newest season of camp camp so any new details for that are not gonna be in here sorry! Also sorry it's been 8 months since my last post ;v;

Anyways it's based off the forest episode with a tiny, possibly slightly evil, twist.

TW!

Hope you enjoy!

Max hates camp, everyone knows it. Except for David. For some odd fucking reason he just wouldn't let it go. Especially in the past couple of weeks. Ever since he came back with a broken leg he's been harping and hoping that Max should enjoy his time at camp! All this happy-with-life bullshit was driving him nuts!

Nobody seemed to notice it though so David must be solely focused on him. Whenever Max would bring up his annoyance with David and his actions they would get upset and walk away from him.

He's been isolating himself from the other campers for weeks. He didn't feel like talking with talking with them. Especially with how tired he's been lately. It was unexplainable cause this was beyond his normal tiredness. It was hard to even get out of his cot some days. He'd stay in his cot too if it weren't for David poking his head in and cheering for him to get. And Max would. He'd sigh and grumble and fuss about it but he'd do as David told him.

Max didn't know how he did it. How he'd run and jump and skip on his broken leg. It made Max want to throw up.

Today though Max didn't listen. He didn't want to. David nagged at him but Max rolled over. Neil was ready for the day.

"Come on kid. Just one more day ahead of you. You can make it." David said Max could hear the sincere and calm smile in his voice.

"Shut up David," Max grunted, putting a pillow over his head. No matter how early he went to bed he was still tired when he woke up. No matter how much sleep he tried to get the dark circles under his eyes only got darker. Didn't David see something was going on? Didn't David understand that he needed this?

"Oh, buddy." He whispered, Max sneered and the pity in his tone. "I know it's hard but sometimes the remedy for being tired is getting up. I know you are having a rough time but as hard as it is to even think about hopping out of bed, it helps to let sunshine hit your face. To talk to someone who makes you smile."

"Leave me alone David, you have other campers you need to watch." Max snarked. After a long stretch of just the forest noises to fill the silence Max noticed that he was alone. He rolled onto his back to stare at the shadows of leaves waving across the fabric of his tent. He watched them crawl across the top of his tent until it got dark outside and Neil was back.

"Missed you at the campfire today." He commented. Max rolled his eyes. Oh wow he missed him for one part of the day Max missed.

"Oh yeah? Was it eventful? David get set on fire?" Max mused sarcastically. Neil sighed.

"Again with the David thing. Can you just not joke like that man? It's not funny anymore." He huffed. Max rolled his eyes again. "It just might have been nice to have you there but now I'm not so sure about that idea."

"Geez. Who pissed in your apple juice?" Max replied. Neil got into his cot.

"I get people grieve in different ways but can your way not be by being an asshole? It's making it rougher on everyone else." Neil said and rolled over. Max furrowed his eyebrows and looked over to see Niel's back to him.

"What does that mean? Did something happen?"

Grieve? What did he mean grieve?

"Good night Max." Neil snapped.
