67 | IN HER DREAMS FEAR CAN BE FOUND
WINTERFELL stood admiring her ring finger, newly adorned with a wedding ring.
Harry Hook did not become her boyfriend; no, he became her fiancé. And he stood behind her, his face buried in her hair.
Winter could not help but giggle lightly at the gleaming room—she was getting married. She was actually going to get married! To a pirate, at that.
Briefly, she remembered being a kid—a little girl—and reading all those romance stories, mostly about princesses and princes. But some, some were about more daring characters. Legends and myths. Audacious heroes and fearless icons. In some cases, misunderstood anti-heroes.
The princess who fell in love with a pirate. That has been a classic tale growing up. And now it seemed it was her reality, for she was certainly head over heels for Mr. Harry Hook.
Her attention was taken back to Harry, who began to place featherlight kisses on her neck. His adoration for her rolled off him in waves. She suspected her own adoration was quite apparent as well—especially with the silly smile that wouldn't leave her lips.
She whirled around his grasp suddenly, gripping his cheeks with her hands and forcing him to stare into her wide brown eyes. He laughed giddily at her antics, leaning his head in close and resting his forehead against hers.
"What...?" He cooed quietly, still staring intensely into her eyes.
Winter bit her lip, her tongue poking out and swiping across her bottom lip as she eagerly bounced.
"I don't want a wedding," She spoke truthfully.
Harry's heart dropped, and his gaze briefly went downcast. "Huh?" He desperately hoped he had misunderstood.
Winter continued to smile, nudging her head against his and keeping eye contact. Willing him to understand.
"I've never wanted a wedding," She said honestly. "What if we just elope, yeah? We could do it on your ship and then... and then we can run off—you said you want to explore the world. I can do it with you..." Her words came faster than she realized, spilling from her lips almost sloppily. "Would that be okay with you?"
She felt so free. Is this how marriage felt for everyone? Was it meant to be so freeing?
A lot of people typically said the opposite when they married, not out of loathing—just the simple truth. Marriage is a tie between two people; there is a loss of freedom in that. Of course, with that loss comes the gain of a partner for life. But Winter, well, Winter currently felt freer than a bird.
Her lips had pulled into a grin as she looked to Harry. The pirate allowed his eyes to flutter over her face gently, memorizing every line.
"No wedding, ey?" He muttered. "I never much cared for those things either... alright, snowie... let's elope..." He agreed with his own smile of adoration for the young woman in front of him. He then leaned down and captured her lips with his own.
