it was inspiring to watch my new friends make music. we were only there to relax and listen but i was so fascinated by each one of them. i studied the way they all played. jaden would find a beat on the drums then sam would jump in on her bass guitar.
sooner than later they all experimented together with new sounds. it was really interesting to watch.
i think back to when i was forced to play. i was so focused on being perfect that i wasn't able to truly appreciate the music. i had to be perfect.
"making an album sounds hard. they've been practicing for three hours straight now." delilah lays her head on my shoulder. i continue to watch eli talk to samara. they both strum their guitars waiting for a perfect melody.
d and i had spent those three hours talking, jumping from topic to topic. we would tune into the music after a while then continue our conversation. to me, time flew by quickly.
i stare at the keyboard that was off to the side. i bet i could still play a few songs if i tried.
"do you think they're ever going to take a break?" delilah asks. i look at each one of them before answering. "no, they're in the zone," i say back. "but i'm sure elijah would if looked at him a certain way." i joke.
"oh," she catches my drift. "let me see."
delilah lifts her head off my shoulder to face me. i turn to her and darken my eyes like i do when i'm lustfully staring at elijah. i add a little smirk as well. "that would get me too. do it, i want to see his reaction."
i nod and stare at him strumming his guitar. he always knows when i'm looking at him. it takes him exactly three seconds to look at me back. i do my signature look while casually crossing my arms. he squints with a smile, maybe not expecting me to be looking at him like that. my smirk grows but i try not to smile.
i see his eyes shift to delilah then back at me. i keep the look going trying not to falter.
his eyebrows raise and he jerks his head to the side like he's asking what? i mimic him full on smiling now. eli nods twice then says something to sam that we can't hear over the sound of music.
"i think it worked." i tell delilah. "oh it definitely worked." we both giggle watching elijah walk up to us, his guitar still around him. "what's so funny?" he questions seeming amused. "what are you talking about?" i play innocent. "what are you both up to?"
"we're not doing anything." i'm nonchalant.
the music came to a halt, it really did work. delilah leaves the couch laughing.
eli stood in front of me, looking straight down at me. "meet me in my room."
he removes his guitar from around him and walks back to his friends. i purse my lips together feeling caught in my act.
d was already chatting it up with samara and the boys. i do what i was told and swiftly make my way to his room. i leave the door cracked open just a little bit.
the things i get myself into.
while i wait i walk around. gravitating towards his blue fender. i strum it then quickly put my hand by my side as he walks in. i walk a few steps towards him acting like i wasn't doing anything.
