Charles,

A painter? So you have more depth than I previously thought. I would accept your offer for tea at a later time, I am set to go to the country with my mother tonight and will not return for another two weeks. Please keep telling me about yourself, and I will think about your offer when I return.

For me, my rather large secret is that I am a writer. I enjoy writing plays, I enjoy reading, and I am working on the first iteration of a novel. Unfortunately, being a woman in our time, I do not know if I will ever get it published, if I ever finish it.

It is taking a while for me to write, but that is what keeps me happy in the grand scheme of things.

If we are to be married, I would like to continue to write. Your offer to go to America is appealing, but there is so much of the world I would like to see before we settle down, or fulfill our obligation to have a child, eventually.

I will say, having to write that makes bile fill my throat at the moment. I do not want to have a child too soon, and I do not want to have a child with someone I do not love. Right now, I do not know you, so I have no reason to care for you or love you.

Please find the enclosed address for your letters, and I will consider tea when I return.
