Hour, a young eccentric boy is awoken from the top bunk of his uncomfortable looking bed in a sweeping room filled with numerous other bunk beds like his. He sleeps in the very last one in the right edge of the room. Speakers are on each corner of the room. All the children in Hour's district wear red and white striped pajamas with white socks. The boys wear pants while the girls wear nightgowns. As everyone else starts to wake up, he slides down to the bottom bunk to wake up his most trusted companion, Cat.

"Wakey wakey!" He taunts.

Cat wakes up, groaning and rubbing her eyes.

"Hello, Hour."

"You ready for today?" He asks excitedly.

"What's today?"

"Doctor Chan is raising our three minute break to a four minute break and I'm so excited to get one extra minute!"

An older girl in the corner leaps off the top bunk and sighs, eyeing Hour and Cat.

"At this point, we're lucky if she gives us thirty seconds. I doubt it'll be a full minute."

"Vine, why you always gotta' ruin everything?" Cat grates.

"There's always something off about this place, but you two and the rest of this joint are too dumb to realize it." Vine insults.

"Don't say that! Doctor Chan always wants the best for us. She's just trying to protect us from evil people who want to steal our mutations." Hour claims, trying to lighten the mood.

The kids cover their ears as the loud feedback from the speakers screech. They take their hands off their ears as they hear Doctor Chan clearing her voice through the microphone.

"Diamond District, you will be first to complete your tasks. If I hear even the slightest complaint, you will be punished. Remember, tasks help you shape your character. Be here in five minutes." The speaker turns off.

"'Tasks help you shape your character!!'" Vine mocks.

"They do! The more we do the more we'll be able to keep our powers hidden so evil people can't try and take them away!" Hour responds.

Cat places her hand on Hour's shoulder.

"Just leave her be." She glances up to Vine. "She can go get punished if she wants. We'll be thriving and keeping our powers safe."

Vine scoffs. Cat and Hour scurry and head to Main Floor.
