SUNOO LEANED against the stone wall of the castle, the adrenaline from the fight still coursing through his veins. He had managed to fend off Eunseo's guards, but he knew she was making her way safely to the river Cal.

The sound of footsteps interrupted his thoughts, ready for another fight, but then a familiar voice filled the corridor.

"You need my help again?''

Sunoo turned briskly to his wife, Aerin, striding towards him. Her presence was commanding, her eyes sharp with determination. Despite the dire circumstances, he couldn't help the smirk that tugged at his lips.

"The devil herself decides to show up, huh?", he equipped, his tone light but appreciative.

She rolled her eyes, clearly unimpressed, "Save the flattery, Kim Sunoo. We both know you're not as charming as you think".

He let out a chuckle, a glint of amusement in his eyes. "And yet, you still can't resist my company".

Her lips twitched, almost forming a smile. "Only because I'm obligated. Let's get this over with".

Despite their banter, Sunoo enjoyed her fiesty demeanor. Their marriage, born out of necessity and political manveuring, had never blossomed into romance. Still, there was a camaraderie between them, a mutual bond that made their partnership effective.

They moved through the castle, their movements sychronized as if they had been doing this for years. His laid-back attitude contrasted sharply with her focused intensity, but it was a combination that worked well enough for them.

"Raeul managed to escape, but she's headed towards the Cal river to find Sunghoon", Sunoo explained as they navigated through the dimly lit corridors. "We need to make sure no one else gets to her before she reaches him".

His wife gave a nod, her expression serious. "I'll handle the guards. You take care of the core to all of this havoc".

Sunoo raised a brow, a playful smirk on his face. "Bossy, aren't we?"

She shot him a withering glance. "Just do your job, Sunoo".

They split up, each taking a different path through the castle. Sunoo moved with a casual grace, his mind focused despite his outwardly relaxed appearance. He knew Eunseo was probably somewhere in the castle, baking a plan.

As he turned around a corner, he heard the sound of footsteps and hushed voices. He pressed himself against the wall, listening intently.
