Because of You

Have you ever made just one mistake

That would pile up and lead to heartbreak?

Have you ever tried to fix it all

But made it worse and let it fall?

Did the voices speaking within your mind

Tell you to give it up and leave it behind?

Did you try your best, or did you just pretend

Only so you could pray that it would end?

The end is near. I can tell.

What happened to the person I once knew so well?

You promised that you would never leave

But today, that seems impossible to believe.

Please come back, I want you to stay.

I wish you would never go away.

I miss the old you; who you are now isn't the same

And I know exactly who to blame.

As the days go on, we drift further apart

And I feel the pain inside my heart.

I'm changing too; but it's because of you

And because of what you've put me through.

Your apologies aren't real - instead, they're fake

Since you keep on making the same mistake.

You're well aware of the pain I feel

But you wait until I'm broken to help me heal.

I'm torn apart, I don't know what to do.

And the reason is because of you.

This poem is for a certain someone - a certain someone that really needs to read it so they know what I'm going through.

Their apologies mean nothing anymore. Wasted words, meaningless, pointless.

It may not seem like it, but this poem perfectly illustrates how I've felt over the past couple of days. Yesterday was hell, just like the day before that. Today wasn't all that great either.
