Memories of the Past

Although times have changed since we said goodbye
And we've gone our separate ways
The changes that created the brand new me
Are things that will forever stay.

Along with these changes come memories
Moments I cherish even after all the pain
The happiness I felt before the hell
Somehow managed to still live in my brain.

A story of glee that went down a path
Of life changing hell and lies
The damage that impacted me to this day
Has the power to still make me cry.

The tears that drowned this aching heart
The fire that burned through this soul
The memories of these once perfect days
Have taken a never-ending toll.

These memories of the past that come and go
Still paint a slight smile on my face
Regardless of the harm you did to me
These memories will never be replaced.

I say I hurt and I feel the sting
Of recalling the times when our love was strong
But the truth is, it serves as a lesson learned
So I'm aware of what I know is wrong.

A brand new soul; a brand new friend
One that patched all the holes I had
He erased all the damage and brought out the light
And constantly makes me feel so glad.

Years will pass and all of this could change
But will Amber Lynne still be the same?
The memories will live on no matter what
Since it's a part of life's silly old game.

Hello there, readers and fellow amigos.

This poem talks about the power of memories. Memories we know, memories we love, hate, cherish - all of them. People that come and go have memories that stick in your mind.

Although that child I once loved is no longer a part of my life, his memories are. They still come up and it's inevitable.

Memories aren't always bad. New ones are the best.

Old memories will never be replaced. Only new ones are made to add onto the collection of memories.

If any of this makes sense, that would be great, haha. I'm very tired. 🙂
