"Will you stay for dinner?" Elizabeth asked Thalassa.

"What about Will?" Nessa replied.

"He can come too. I can send someone to invite him." Elizabeth realized how loud she had said that and quieted herself. "Or it can just be us girls."

So the two got their dinner and took their plates to Elizabeth's bedroom. It was a rebel thing to do in that household, and they both enjoyed it. It brought them back to when they were both children and didn't worry about marriages and titles.

"Will fancies you, too," Nessa said with a giggle. "He talks about you all the time."

"He does?" Elizabeth blushed. "Actually...there's something I must tell you. The Commodore asked me to marry him shortly before I-I fell into the water."

Thalassa looked at her with complete shock. She felt envious of Elizabeth but at the same time happy for her. "Fancy that," She said in the fakest voice she could.

"Yes, yes it is exciting I suppose. It definitely was much scarier than falling off a cliff and into the water." The girls giggled.

"So, you'll marry him?" Nessa asked.

"It's what everyone wants me to do. But I don't wish to marry him." Elizabeth sighed. "My father's always pushing me to do things because it's what society deems correct and what he deems necessary. I don't like it." Elizabeth watched Thalassa's eyes sadden.

"I've worked so hard to have as good of a reputation as I can. But in the end, the most valuable thing to a woman's reputation is her husband. If I want to be respected I must marry someone respected," said Thalassa.

"I know, here I am complaining about my father pushing me into things when in reality I have it better than I realize."

"And if you decline the proposal, you'll still have a well established name and reputation," said Nessa. She wished she could be free to do whatever she pleased. But at Port Royal, she constantly felt watched and judged, no matter how hard she tried.

Elizabeth did not want to marry Norrington. Thalassa very much so wanted to marry Norrington.

Thalassa glanced at the night sky through the window and sighed. "Will is probably wondering where I am, I should go home now," Thalassa said as she stood and brushed off her dress.

"I will request for someone to escort you home," Elizabeth replied.

Then, a strange wind blew out the candle light. The girls exchanged alarmed glances. The world suddenly felt eerily quiet. Thalassa felt a strange feeling in her gut.

Then they heard blasts. Gunshots. Canons coming from the docks. They saw fire light up the sky. Screams echoed as the villagers ran for their lives.

"Now I really must go." Elizabeth grabbed Thalassa's hand before it reached for the doorknob. Elizabeth had true fear in her eyes. "I have to find Will." The shouting was getting closer. They opened the door and ran across the balcony when they heard a knock on the door. The butler calmly went to open it.

"No! Don't!" Elizabeth yelled. But it was too late. The group of pirate men shot the butler and then laughed. Elizabeth screamed and the two ran back into her bedroom and slammed the door behind them.

Thalassa broke a piece of wood off of a hat rack and held it firmly in her hands. She hid around the corner and when the pirates ran her direction, she hit one in the face. The heavy pirate fell onto the ground and Thalassa hit the skinnier pirate, knocking his head and pushing him into the wall. The girls ran out of the bedroom and down the stairs. But the pirates jumped over the balcony railing and cornered them. Nessa gripped Elizabeth's hand as the two backed into the wall. The nasty pirates laughed at them.
