Thalassa was raised with Will and a girl named Elizabeth. She was taught how to act and dress like a lady and the wild side of her was contained within. But it so badly wanted to burst out, especially near the sea. She was drawn to the sea and was often found sitting at the beach late at night by Will. Will was her brother. They did not share blood, but they were raised as siblings and looked out for each other like siblings.
Thalassa grew to be a beautiful young woman. She was a well loved young woman, as she came from nothing and was well on her way to becoming something.
She became very good friends with Elizabeth Swann and was welcomed to her house as if she were family.
Despite having no memories of her past, she was happy.

"Captain Norrington will soon become Commodore Norrington," Thalassa gushed. "And I was personally invited to his ceremony!"
"Don't tell me you're becoming one of those girls who are incredibly infatuated with him," Will teased. He respected her privacy and faced the other way while she got ready for the ceremony later that day.
The two lived in a run down house just next to where William worked. The house consisted of two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a small kitchen combined with a dining room. The house was always dusty and hot inside. It often made them feel very poor and like they were at the bottom of the food chain.
But Thalassa was well respected and her goal was to climb her way to the top and marry a wealthy man of good status who will help Will find better work and a better home.
"No! I...just...I respect him," Thalassa replied. "Because he respects me. It is he who is helping me establish my place in this town. It was he who didn't let anyone treat me wrongly when we were kids and...he still does it to this day." Thalassa fixed her hair and then giggled. "You may turn around now." William did so and smiled at his adopted sister. Her golden blonde hair sat in beautiful curls on her shoulders and down her back. The dress she wore was a gift from Elizabeth. The fabric was a faded blue color. The sleeves were made of an itchy white lace.
"You look beautiful Nessa," said Will.
"Thank you." Nessa noticed Will was dressed nicer than usual. He also carried a sword and a sheath. "And where are you headed off to?"
"I'm going to Governor Swann's. A delivery. Would you like to join me?" Will held his arm out for Thalassa. She smiled as she linked her arm with his and they set off to their good friend's manor.
Thalassa and Will waited inside by the front door for the governor. It was a much better home than their own, which was why they sometimes felt uncomfortable there.
"Ah! Mr. Turner, good to see you again!" Governor Swann greeted them with open arms. "And Miss Thalassa Turner, you get prettier each time I see you." Thalassa politely nodded her head at him.
"I have your order," said Will. He laid the box on the nearest table. Inside was a very fine sword. William took the sword by the beautifully crafted handle and showed it to the governor. "The blade is folded steel. That's gold filigree laid into the handle," he explained. "And it is perfectly balanced. The tang is neatly the full width of the blade."
Thalassa looked around at the beautiful house. She had spent plenty of evenings there for dinner. But as she grew older the dinners there became less frequent.
The sound of heels clicking on the wood floor turned all their heads. Elizabeth was dressed in a beige corset dress with faint green flowers on the fabric. "Elizabeth," the governor happily said, "you look absolutely stunning!"
"Will! It's so good to see you." Elizabeth quickened her pace down the stairs. She smiled at Will and Will nervously smiled back. "I had a dream about you last night."
"About me?" Will hesitantly replied.
"About the night we first met," said Elizabeth.
Will and Thalassa's sibling like bond was strong from the beginning. It was because both were found washed up from a shipwreck and neither remembered anything before. Their bond however did not compare to the spark that was between Will and Elizabeth.
"Nessa!" Elizabeth broke the prolonged eye contact and hugged her childhood best friend. "You look beautiful in my old dress."
"Is that yours? I thought it was familiar," commented the governor.
"Thank you for letting me have it," said Thalassa. "Are you going to the ceremony?"
"I am, are you?" Elizabeth excitedly asked.
"She was personally invited," Will teased. Thalassa rolled her eyes.
"Would you like to come with us? We've got plenty of room in the carriage," Elizabeth said.
"I was actually going to walk."
"In this heat?" The governor interrupted. "You will take the carriage with us. There is plenty of room. Will your brother be joining us?"
Thalassa turned to Will who was staring at Elizabeth with longing in his eyes. "I, um, would love to but I have work to do." Elizabeth nodded with a twinge of sadness.
In the carriage, the governor and his daughter sat across from Thalassa. They rocked about on the cobblestone and dirt roads on the way to their destination.
"I heard Mr. Blanston was going to court you," Elizabeth broke the uncomfortable silence.
"Elizabeth, we shouldn't gossip. It's not polite," the governor said.
"He did," Thalassa said, ignoring the governor. "I declined."
"You declined?" The governor asked. "He's a fine man. And a well respected militia." The girls exchanged giggles.
"I know, I am 20 so I did not actually decline, I just told him I needed time to think," Thalassa explained. "I know I can't live with Will forever, nor on my own. But I quite enjoy this life I live."
At the ceremony, Thalassa and Elizabeth stood in the heat and fanned themselves with fans that matched their dresses. Thalassa giggled about the good looking men on the military and then felt her heart beat extra fast when she saw Norrington.
Norrington had this eye on Elizabeth. She was the governors daughter and a beautiful young lady. He couldn't marry someone like Thalassa. The world was all about status and even though Thalassa was a respected young woman, she had no status.
James Norrington walked between the lines of the red coat soldiers. Every girl blushed at the sigh of him, every girl except for Elizabeth. James was given a sword and he hoisted it around. The hot sun beat on Elizabeth and she pulled on her corset. "Is something the matter?" Thalassa asked her.
"I can't...breathe in this dress," Elizabeth muttered.
After the ceremony was finished, music played in the background and refreshments were served. Thalassa socialized with almost everyone with a smile on her face. It was her way of trying to fit in.
"Nessa," a woman happily said. "It is so good to see you."
"It is good to see you as well, Mrs. Rington," Nessa replied.
"Your dress is just lovely. Do you see her dress, Mrs. Norbert?"
"Oh, yes that is a very fine dress, indeed!" Mrs. Norbert exclaimed.
"It was a gift from my friend, Elizabeth Swann," Nessa explained, "for my twentieth birthday."
"You're twenty?!"
"Oh dear, I remember when you were just a little orphan, scared out of her mind," Mrs Norbert recalled. The two older ladies turned into a group of women reminiscing when they first met Thalassa.
Nessa excused herself and walked into the heat. She looked around at everyone at the party, then she spotted Norrington and Elizabeth talking beside the cliff. She smiled at the handsome James Norrington, now commodore, and fanned herself. She made her way to them but events to follow made her gasp and then scream.
Nessa watched Elizabeth fall backwards over the cliff and into the water. Nessa and Norrington peered over the edge. "Elizabeth!" Nessa called.
