When Nessa awoke, she was on a beach under the hot sun. She sat up and squinted at the Black Pearl sailing in the distance.
"Ah! You're awake!" Jack greeted her. He sat beside Nessa and handed her a dirty glass bottle.
"Rum?" Nessa asked with her eyebrow hooked. "You're kidding me right? We're stuck on an island and you have rum?!" She smacked him across the face and then crossed her arms over her chest. She huffed at him and then laid in the sand.
"Nessa!" Elizabeth sat on her other side. "I'm so sorry, Thalassa. I got you into this mess. If you hadn't stayed for dinner..."
"No, no. It is not your fault. Besides, if I hadn't stayed for dinner, you'd be in this mess and I would have come here with Will and we'd probably be right here," Thalassa said.
"Sounds like you're destined for a pirates life," Jack cooly said. He chucked the bottle of rum in his hand and tossed the bottle away.
"Never," Thalassa snapped at him.
"Listen luv, we're going to be here for a while so, I suggest you calm down and drink." He offered her the bottle of rum again.
Thalassa glanced at Elizabeth who shrugged her shoulders. Nessa did the same and took the bottle from Jack.

"We're devils, we're black sheep. We're really bad eggs. Drink up, me hearties, yo-ho! Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirates life for me!" Thalassa and Jack sang and danced around the campfire under the moonlight. Elizabeth sat in the sand, ignoring their drunken singing because she was too busy plotting their escape. She was also a little surprised with Thalassa's behavior. Nessa was the last person on earth who would get drunk with a pirate.
"I love thisssong!" Thalassa slurred.
"When I get the Pearl back, my crew will sing it ALL the time!" Jack happily yelled as he plopped onto the sand and opened another bottle. Thalassa sat beside him and he passed the bottle to her.
"I swear the ocean speaks to me!" Thalassa announced after taking a gulp of the rum. "When I was a child I would sitonthe beach and listen to the waves." Her voice turned to a whisper, "They have voices, did you know the waves have voices?" She took another drink. "I can't make out their words except for my name and 'prophecy'. They say the word prophecy over and over. And when I sail, the voices are lllouder!"
"Aye! The sea speaks to me too," Jack happily replied. "Because I am a pirate and I think you are," he placed his precious hat on Nessa's head, "as well."
Thalassa took the hat off and threw it in the sand. "You don't get it! The ocean literally speaks to me! 'The prophecy, the prophecy' what even is the bloody prophecy?!"
"There are lots of prophecies, luv." Jack places his hat back on her head and admired her beauty. Her skin was very tan and her blonde hair was a bit tangled with sand sparkling under the moonlight. "I will help you find out what the waves are talking about. You have my word." He gently pushed a few strands of her hair from her face. He looked into her eyes and felt a smirk in his face. Her eyes reminded him of the ocean when a storm was beginning to brew.
Thalassa stared at Jack and felt everything around her go still. He was a filthy pirate and yet she felt attracted to him. She leaned closer to his face and looked down at his lips.
Then Elizabeth hit Jack on the head with a bottle of rum and he fell into the sand unconscious. Thalassa's face went pink with embarrassment. She almost kissed him.
"I have a plan," said Elizabeth.
"Can it wait until morning?" Nessa replied. She tucked her knees to her chest and looked down at the sand. She suddenly felt sick to her stomach.
"Was all of that true?" Elizabeth moved to Nessa's side. "You can hear voices?"
"I am not crazy, I swear. I know it's strange but I just know the waves speak. I've heard it my whole life." Thalassa sniffled. "Maybe I am a bit crazy."
"Thalassa, you have no one to prove yourself to out here. You have no one to impress right now. Not me, not Will, not even the Commodore. Be who you truly are. And if we hadn't just fought off undead skeleton pirates, then I would think you were a bit ill." The girls giggled. "But I believe you, Thalassa. I believe in fairytales and ghost stories now. Anything is possible, even talking waves."
Thalassa leaned into Elizabeth's arms and the friends hugged each other. Elizabeth even kissed Nessa's forehead before the girls fell asleep.
It was early the next morning when the sun was still rising, when the girls agreed to burn all of the rum and the trees to send a smoke signal. It was the smell of the smoke that woke Jack up.
"No! Not good! Stop!" Jack waved his hands in the air as he ran towards the girls. "What are you doing? You've burned the food, the shade, the rum. Why is the rum gone?"
"One: because it is a vile drink that makes even the most respectful people say the darkest things. And two: that signal is over a thousand feet high. The entire Royal Navy is looking for me and Nessa. Do you really think there is the slightest chance they won't see it?" Elizabeth angrily explained to Jack.
"But why is the rum gone?!"
"Just wait, Jack Sparrow," said Thalassa as she bumped his shoulder and walked past him. She walked into the shallow water. "Commodore Norrington will rescue us."
"Give it one hour, maybe two. But soon, you will see white sails on the horizons," said Elizabeth.
"Bloody women!" Jack screamed.
Then he ran along the beach to the other side of the island where a ship with white sails sat. He looked back at the smoke signal and then at the ship. "Bloody hell!" He shouted again. Jack slapped his arms at his sides and walked back to the girls.
