HAVE YOU EVER BROKEN A BONE?

Dear friend,

No. And I don't ever want to. I'm sure it's painful. But, if scientists ever discover a safe passage far beyond the average threshold for pain, please let me know. In the historical novels the word laudanum gets bandied about pretty much. In today's strange shapeless society I hear about cough syrups that work wonders. Fighting pain should not have to be about addiction. But I digress.

Have I ever broken a bone?

Do you know the very worst scenario in my head? It happened on a construction site in real life. This poor minimum wage guy fell into a stone crusher. And it happened again on my former street. Armed robbers attacked the house of a rich chief. They used a machete of sorts and split his head in two.

But my worst case scenario is when the human bones turn to porridge mush. Because you say, BONE. That's supposed to be a very strong thing. The thought that there are much more stronger things out there that can break bone is so chilling. Like long sounding medical conditions. I never ever want to break a bone or turn into a human vegetable. But this is the risk of being human, isn't it? We can't escape our frailty. Is this a case for gene code editing? Genetic manipulation? Beyond reason and unreasonable frontiers?
