Dear friend,
When I was a fat little girl in boarding school, I found an ingenious way to cope with the traumatic impact of my dysfunctional family. Please understand. This setting is in the West African 1990's. Lots of we're so over it kind of things were novel, back then. My peers toured the harlequins and the Mills with the Boon, but I crafted my secret hopes and aspirations into telling happy ever after stories. The junior secondary two girls of Remington House would gather around my iron bunk bed to listen, enraptured, as I wove my web. Handsome aliens with blond hair and that Clark Kent curling tendril. Simple, poor black girls jilted by mean evil boyfriends. Innocent fiancee's framed at the Beijing airport by jealous ex girlfriends and then arrested for carrying cocaine... You want thrill? Romance? Tense court cases? Buckets full of tears and ringing echoes of laughing amusement? I got it. No charge. Just gather round my bed in your checkered yellow day wears and let your toes curl. They drove away my lonely, those sparkling diamond girls. It's like that in my memories. It was like that in the throes of victimization, slaving away most of my life for a hapless corrupt government in an uncaring tribalistic this world country. I saw those sparkling diamond girls and I remembered what my mommysweet always told me. She said, daughter, you have a way with words! WHAT DO I DO BEST? What am I good at? Im starting life afresh and it's looking star studded already even if I'm not making any money yet. The characters in my head are finally free. This is me. I write the good stuff. Don't forget to check out my blog space. Too many people are doing others. You should do you, no pun intended. Good morning, and have yourself a glittering day.
