Jennie's Pov
"Mom! I'm hungry." My daughter whined, hugging my waist behind me as I prepared the dish. "Mommy! ~~"She keeps pulling back when my anger rises unknowingly, and I scold her right away.
"Stop it, Jeon Ari! You're already 12 years old; watch your behavior." He suddenly rolls her eyes and goes straight away to the table. She really looks like his father—so stubborn.
Well, I am just 28 years old. You're right. I had her when I was sixteen years old. His father and I were lovers since thirteen years old—let's say, a puppy love in high school—until we went to college as freshman. I struggled with my daughter until I graduated from college.
Jungkook suddenly got sent abroad after I gave birth to our daughter. His parents were against me and their granddaughter; they never supported us in the first place. Jungkook also never got to see his daughter since day one, and I also never got to see him after that.
"Mom! Stop zoning out. I am hungry." My daughter whined again, pouting. "I apologize for that, sweetheart. Mom's tired for work." I sighed.
I inherited my dad's company after he's been in a coma. My stepmother has been with him 24/7 in the hospital, and I started to manage the company on my own.
"Tomorrow is our family day, mom. But I don't care about it since I've never attended one in my life. You're busy as always, and it's fine if I have a dad, but do I have one? "She chuckles bitterly. I told her not to plant resentment towards her dad after I told him about how he left us alone without telling, yet she still did it.
I sometimes pitied my daughter, but do I have a choice?
After we finished our breakfast, today is my rest day to spend time with my daughter. I heard a doorbell soon as I excitedly opened it. I thought it was my three best friends, but it was someone unexpected.
Again, I felt agony and nervousness rush through my veins as I felt anxious upon seeing him for the first time. It's been 12 years since the day I saw him for the last time.
He's been so mature and is becoming so handsome. Ari is so very much like him, like a carbon copy. "J-Jennie..." Jungkook sobs, trying to reach out his hand to me, and I immediately back away.
"Stay away from me, jerk." My tears flowed unknowingly as my voice shivered from anger.
"Jennie, please listen to me. I-"
"Listen to you? Have you ever listened to me? Have you asked me if I am fine? Is this really how you talk to me directly? "
"Jen, how's you and our..." he halted as he looked at my glistening eyes.
"Our what? You don't have a daughter with me. She's dead." Upon saying this from my mouth, his shoulders heaved with a heavy sighed. It is like guilt rushing from his body, regretting what he wanted to do before but never did.
"What do you mean she's dead, huh?!" Blood shot directly from his eyes as he gripped me too tight on my shoulders. "Why do you care anyway? You never cared about him in the first place! The audacity of you, you jerk!" This time, I don't know if I did the right thing, or am I the one who made a mistake?
He slapped me.
He freaking slapped me.
The audacity of this man.
He suddenly changed into a soft man after realizing what he had done. He took a glance at his hand, shaking in anxiety. I never cared anyway.
I glared at him deadly before I told him right in front of his face, "How did you even get my address? I will say one more thing to you, fcking Jeon Jungkook! If ever I get to see your face again, I will bury you alive! "I slammed the door aggressively as I cried, sliding back at the door, covering my mouth not to make noise.
I didn't realize that my daughter had been watching me from the stairs. She reached out to me and hugged me for comfort.
"Shh, mom. He doesn't deserve you; you deserve someone better. I am proud that you never tell him about me," she whispers. "Ari, no. I made a mistake. I should've told him about you; he deserves to know it. I should've listened to his explanation," I retorted.
"Mom! Are you hearing yourself?! He slapped you! Don't tell me you're still in love with that man!" She half-yelled at me, breaking her hug.
"He's still your father, Ari! "I yelled.
"He slapped you and never cared for us! "She looked down with tears falling and continued, "Fine then, help yourself, Mom." She said coldly and ran upstairs to her room.
I felt so empty and down. Even my daughter hates me now.
Am I really doing the right thing or not?
