OmniscientThe bridal boutique was a sanctuary of silk and lace, where Heaven sat surrounded by whispers of tulle and chiffon. Her reflection in the mirror wore a serene smile, but her mind was a tempest of conflicting voices. As she traced the delicate beadwork of a gown, whispers began to coil around her thoughts, twisting and distorting reality.
"Heaven, are you alright?" Tolerie's voice cut through the fog, her eyes filled with concern. "You've been staring at that dress for ages."
Heaven blinked, shaking off the tendrils of paranoia that threatened to ensnare her. "Yes, yes, I'm fine," she replied, her voice strained. "Just lost in thought."
But in her mind, a storm raged. Voices, some gentle and soothing, others harsh and accusatory, echoed in the chambers of her consciousness.
"You'll never be good enough for him."
"He doesn't really love you, you know."
"You're making a mistake, Heaven. A big, irreversible mistake."
She clenched her fists, trying to drown out the cacophony of doubt. But they persisted, relentless in their assault on her sanity. Tolerie's excitement bubbled over as she clasped her hands together. "Well, snap out of it, baby! You have to show me the dress. I can't wait any longer!"
With a forced smile, Heaven rose from her seat, casting a lingering glance at the mirror before following Tolerie out of the dressing room. As she stepped into the light, she pushed aside the whispers that threatened to consume her, focusing instead on the joy reflected in her friend's eyes.
"You're making a mistake, Heaven. He'll leave you just like everyone else."
"You're not worthy of happiness."
"You're going to ruin everything."
She gritted her teeth, determined to block out the tormenting thoughts. But with each step she took toward Tolerie, the weight of her doubts grew heavier, threatening to crush her resolve.
