All of us are sitting on the sofa, with monopoly out in front of us, we all have our own pieces we always play. I'm the shoe, Kaths the racing car, Allana is the horse, Ashers the Timble and Sky is the bank. And the kids are asleep for their nap.

And the game begins, alliances start and fall flat and trust is broken. It's a trailing time for family and friends. Especially if they live together.

Allana starts her turn as reigning loser, buying king cross station. Solidify her potion to her opponents.

While i organise my money, fifties, hundreds and five hundreds. And the rest in another, while the others have their turns i try to make a game plan in my head. I'm going to try and get the oranges and pinks. Personally my favourites on the board.

My turn comes around, I roll the dice, 4, pay taxes and fees of $200. I hate this game.

As buildings start to pop up in the city of monopoly, the first hotel is made an announcement made loud and clear by a giant idiot, “first hotel of the game.”

Asher seems to be winning, the first hotel on ground. I fumble with my money. Trying to cough up enough to pay rent on his light blue hotel.

But after another thirty minutes, Kath has built hotels on all her properties, people are giving deals, and I am so close to buying my first hotel on Vine Street. I get sent to jail by chance, and that's when someone lands on Vine street but lucky Asher does not need to pay me since that's another rule we have agreed on. We don't pay criminals.

That's when Asher makes a fatal dice move, three double in a row. His third time in jail.

“Dun! Dun! Dun! ”, Sky announced, picking up her pencil and adding a third strike to his name, picking up from a new pile we have added into the game. The rule is if you go to jail three times in the game, we pick up an offence card and the banker becomes the judge. And he has to plead his case. The rest of us play the jurors. Unless he wishes to pay one of us to be his lawyer.

The mini game is simple,
Guilty until proven innocent.

“The case of Asher Richords being charged with public indecency, how do you plead?” she says as she starts the minute timer.

“Innocent,” he shouts. like that's going to prove it. “I am being falsely charged with a crime I have not committed.” he says sliding a $50 monopoly dollar to Allana, she nodded. He bribed the jurors. He slides me $50 as well as Kath.

“Your honour he is-” Kath is given an extra $50. Me and Allana both look at him and he slides us an extra $50. Making sure we take as much money from him as possible. Squeezing as much money as we can possibly get, before the time runs out.

After the timer is finished.

“We find him not guilty. He may takes a turn.”

He excitedly jumps up and down screaming that he’s going to win. He rolls the dice and from go to jail, he gets a 12, 6 and 6. He moves and collects $200, and lands on the Browns to be bankrupted.

The game finishes and Kath wins when she bankrupt the rest of us and ons the board. While Asher gave us his commentary. While he sat next to Sky whose head was on his shoulder.

Kath declares that Asher will be getting the Shopping and all her chores for the week.
