She goes on, “since you have gone ahead and got my engagement called off,you owe me. Big time, Mr Reserved. You are going to be my date to a wedding. Are you able to do that.”

“Wow you know you talk a lot.” I say, and I mean it. Apparently I ruined her engagement. Big deal, I do that all the time.

“Is that a yes or no,” wow not even giving me time to think, she's got plans for me. As do most women.

“On one condition, I will be your date to this wedding during your hard and clearly emotional time, if you be mine to a family party.” I propose I was just going to turn up alone for the fourth year in a row.but here is my chance to change it.

Sef ,who's my Jack, sitting next to me holding his breath, he is practically turning red. I hit him in the head.

“No, absolutely not.” she whispers on the phone. Where is she? She sounds like she's in the library again but it doesn't seem likely.

“My conditions are non-negotiable.”

Sef whispers in my ear. There is a beat of silence over the phone. Fine, I'll play the long game then. It always plays with people's heads. She threatens to hang up, and it seems I'm about to lose this game I'm playing against myself.

“No, wait. Fine, I'll be your date.”

Tryumpftly, she claps back, ”See wasn't that easy, lovely, I'll send you the details.”

“So will i.” she starts to talk saying desperately that she isn't coming, “B-bye Rose ” I grin.

“Back to business,” I clap my hands, the busyness of the room swirls, I place my phone under my chin and give a small, secret smile.

As my phone dings, telling me she sent the details, I send mine as well.

Sef looks at me giving me a look, i sit up tall commanding the room.

“Fine, i'll be your date.” he mimics to me,”oh please go on a date with me,sir.” 

I shoot him a look. He is an annoying parrot that's on my shoulder, he quiets down and I can hear him laughing to himself, no one else dares to laugh.
