Chapter 15

"The things we do for love."

Astralea's POV

It's been three days since I returned. I look around every corner to make sure there is no blitz attack from Vipers. I know they couldn't track me here, so as long as I don't exit the building I should be fine.

Being in hiding is weird. Father and Adron are both in another safe house, with Domenico and Selene. Odd combination if you ask me, I don't know how they managed to not kill each other.

Shit is going to go down, very soon, and I need to protect those I love. In this case Mira.

I knock on her door and she lets me in, as expected Tia is in her room, good, she should be here for this talk.

Tia and I already discussed it, after Mira's last attack, and I know she will be on my side.

"You need to leave Mira." I get straight to the point.

"Bitch, you are in my room, if anyone should be leaving it's you."

"I'm not talking about your room and you know it. You need to leave the syndicate."

"Wow, hold on, I expected you to say house, but you want me to leave the entire criminal world."

"Look me in the eyes and tell me you want to stay here, and I will fuck off."

She looks at me and then looks down, "You know I can't."

"I know, that's why I am giving you a way out. Both of you, a way out."

"Can we even leave now? We are being watched." Tia comments.

"Wait, you want to?" Mira asks clearly not expecting this turn of events.

"I want to be with you, and I want you to be fucking alive. I can't sit on the chair next to your bed when you are in a coma ever again. So if running away is what it takes, then fuck it, lets run."

"I got you a plane, it's not associated with me or Luna, so no one would even question it. You already have fake IDs, use the ones we made a year ago, Mira, you have an intern job in Canada in a small hospital. It's in Yukon."

"Yukon, Canada?"

"Yep."

"Does anyone even live there?"

"Yeah, but not a lot. Just finish your practice there, later, when things cool down, move somewhere else. But no one would be looking for you in Canada and I doubt you two would be okay living on some island isolated for years."

"That's a correct assumption." Tia chirms in.

"Get out of here tonight," I give Tia a small notebook with all the details she might need, "Tell no one."

"Is this a goodbye?" Mira asks me while crying.

"Yes, but hopefully not forever. Tia knows how to reach me." I hugged my sister, for the last time for I don't know how long, if not forever.

But she will be alive, and that's all that matters.

I leave the room, trying to act like nothing happened. I know Tia will get her out, she has training to do it all, I just hope my sister will be happy.

Mira and Tia escaped two days ago, no one noticed yet. Well, I did, obviously, and since I am not freaking out, I guess they just assumed that Mira doesn't want to see them. But by the way Enzo is staring at me, he knows something is up.

"What did you do?"

"I didn't do anything." Technically it's not a lie, they did everything themselves.
