Something was different in the air today, like there was no dooming fog covering the world today. River noticed that Charlie had left for the day already, he had probably said something about going in early to help a situation but she couldn't really remember. With him being at work most of the time the two girls were home it felt like they were on their own, and honestly River wasn't the biggest fan. The main reason they came was to spend time with their father but it seemed he wasn't sure how to really do that yet, considering the usual amount of time they stayed was a mere two weeks during the summer. But nonetheless it was quite nice having alone time from time to time, especially when Bella was busy with her school work and reading.
Along with the no fog she took a look out the window and to her shock it had fully snowed, leaving a fresh layer rather than the melting stuff that was falling yesterday. She just knew Bella was going to have the worst time being functional, more so than normal day to day. Maybe it was Rivers turn to take the wheel and let Bella focus on surviving to her horror. She wasn't the biggest fan of driving thats why Bella did it most of the time, but she passed her lessons all the same.
She went downstairs already finding Bella down there happily eating a bowl of cereal and that surprised her, Bella was not a morning person or even a person who looked forward to the morning.
"What's got you all chipper Bell?" River asked pouring her own breakfast with watchful eyes.
"Well, I'm just looking forward to today is all," she answered innocently.
"I don't believe you," River replied casually getting a gasp out of Bella.
"Why can't I be happy about school?" Bella asked in defense.
"Because you're my sister and I've known you these past 17 years and you always were one to dread going to school, is it because of a certain person?" River asked, thinking she already knew the answer to this one.
"You're crazy, I'm just happy this morning," she easily deflected Rivers attempts to dig. River could never know that she was indeed looking forward to seeing Edward Cullen in Biology, even if it was going to be the briefest of conversations.
"Sure, whatever you say sister," River said and returned to her own bowl of cereal. River on the other hand was not looking forward to the cold day ahead of them. There was one thing that she hadn't spoken about over the last few days with Bella, not even something she would write in her journal about. And it may have been about a certain blond making small conversation every chance he got with the slightly younger Swan.
There was something about him, she wasn't sure what yet. First he commented on the book she was reading, next little glances through out class, but of course that wasn't anything crazy to overthink about. But now it was all she could think about driving to school, his honey eyes basically burned into her memory now. She thought about talking this little thing with Bella but she was entirely consumed by Edward, so she was going to chat someone else's ear off and to her surprise she was going to talk to Jessica about it a little bit. Poke around the subject at the least, and it really surprised River. She didn't really like girls like Jessica back at her old school, but over the last week the two had gotten closer after sharing lunch gossip everyday.
River thinks they got close once she had asked Jessica about her little crush on Mike she had. It was obvious to anyone with two eyes besides Mike himself, and that's what she had said to Jessica causing the friendship to grow immensely. River did like having a friend here in this small town, made it less lonely in her mind. Even if she did get the wrong vibes at first glance about Jessica, but truth be told Jessica had told her the same thing. Jess had said River seemed little stuck up coming from Arizona and a bit judgey towards her long time classmates, but they got over that little rift with a laugh and getting over it.
