Something that was different to see for River was that everything was green. Not even varying shades, only the deep dense forest green that was the pacific northwest. At least from this portion of her journey to her old but new home for her.
Forks, Washington. Her birth town, but only had vague memories from living in Arizona the majority of 17 years with her twin sister. The hour and half long drive was all she could focus on because it was taking an eternity it felt like. Only thing saving her was her dad letting the radio stay on instead of having awkward conversations, those could be saved for later. Charlie did try a few times with Bella, but she couldn't really come up a comfortable response so he just kept quiet.
This move was not her idea at all so she was not going to help her sister in easing the tension. So she just kept bobbing her head to the music and thinking about all the new things she's going to deal with being here now. Sure she'd been here before but not full time, being the new guy in town. All the attention being on herself and Bella, and she just new that Bella was going to be nervous wreck. That is not something she is excited to deal with, but mentally preparing anyways.
Eventually the drive finally ended and she was unpacking her stuff after sitting through a silent dinner of pizza. Today was Saturday so she had the opportunity to be prepared for starting Forks High. Sure it was a small little town with barely any people going to the high school, but that makes the attention even worse. That is really a Monday problem if we're being honest, but there's this feeling River has about somethings going to be different with this school. She could feel it in her bones, even with Bella acting indifferent about everything.
There was some movement from outside her door and a little knock, so she went to answer it.
"Hey Riv, I know it's getting late but you want to watch a movie or something?" her sister asked.
"Sure Bell, you all good after todays journey?" River asked, something in Bellas demeanor was off.
"Yeah, just feeling a bit weird with Charlie surprising us with a car today and even remodeling the house a bit for us now. It all feels surreal for me I guess," she explained to her and it was all valid.
"True, but I mean just shows he does care and love us you know? Besides this all was your idea to come here, so maybe he's just happy to know we don't think he's forgotten dust," River told Bella with a bit of resentment hidden in her tone.
River wasn't at all super mad about coming here, but it still felt like she had no control with the move here. Just kind of upset in Bella and their mom steamrolling with this plan and only telling River like a week in advance this was all happening.
"I guess that's fair," Bella replied with before laying on the bed and getting River's laptop ready for their little movie night and promptly ending that conversation. All River could do was just enjoy the quality time with Bella and finish with her decorating.
The plans for her new room was pretty simple, fairy lights all around and little collages of stuff she enjoys on the walls to give it more life. Comfy blankets and pillows all around the bed and her accent chair. Art supplies on the big desk her father put in there, she was happy he remembered her love of art it made her smile. She finished everything about half way through the movie when she laid down with Bella, cuddling up to her showing she wasn't overly mad at her.
"You know I'll stick it with you till the end Bell, right?" River asked quietly.
"Of course Riv, that's what being twins is about forever together. No one can ever take us down," Bella told her with a small smile.
"So real and true," River laughed.
It was a nice little sister sleep over that night, just them taking about silly things. Getting ready for the new school, River gushing over actors while Bella laughed at her, and then River forcing Bella to let her give her a makeover. A nice little night that they both needed to feel ready to take over the world.
