Baby Fever

You often traveled with your fiance, Logan to his races, and Silverstone was no exception. Since the two of your lived in England, you saw and treated this almost like a home race. After being together for four years, he had just recently popped the question a month ago in Monaco, a weekend the two of you would never forget.

During the team meetings, you were in the hospitality suite with James Vowles' wife, Rachel, hanging out with their one year old daughter. This was your first time meeting their daughter, Sara. Typically you would try to get some work done remotely during race weekends, but you put your laptop to the side, wanting to socialize and spend time with Rachel.

"I don't know how you've been able to stay entertained at races for so long," you chuckled, making conversation.

"Honestly, me neither," she turned to you, lifting Sara onto her lap, "it's just one of those things you have to get used to,"

Sara giggled, her face lit up with joy. There was something about the carelessness and pure bliss that a baby had that made you happy. You never really thought about having kids, but you weren't strictly against the thought.

"I mean before Sara, I really didn't travel that much with James. But especially now, I'm perfectly fine staying here," she paused, "I have some calls to make, could you  Sara for a little bit?"

"Yeah of course," you responded, beaming at the idea of you babysitting Sara for a little while.

Rachel handed you a bag of toys and snacks, carefully giving you Sara. You felt her soft skin against your arms, as she looked up at you with an innocent smile that spread across her face. Rachel gave you a reassuring pat on the shoulder, and left the hospitality suite to attend to her calls.

You held Sara, being gentle with her as she cooed and reached out to grab your flashy sunglasses resting on your head. You took your glasses off, giving them to her.

"Aw, you'd look so cute with these on,"

You put your sunglasses on her, and pulled out your phone. You took a picture of her with the glasses, making sure she wouldn't throw them or break them.  There was just something so infectious about her smile and happiness, that made you forget about the other worries you had in your life. You laid back on the couch, putting your phone and glasses aside, so you could play with Sara. However, it seemed like she was already exhausted, wanting to lay on your chest. You realized that if you did anything more, you'd make her cranky, so you closed your eyes, listening to her breaths with the sound of reporters and moving equipment almost being blocked out.

"Hey babe, just finished all my meetings for the day," Logan walked up to the couch, not noticing the sleeping baby. "Oh, my bad," he whispers, as he walks closer, seeing more than the back of your head.

"Okay, we can leave once Rachel comes back," you whisper, slightly adjusting your arms, "I promised her I'd watch Sara,"

Logan sits beside you on the couch, careful not to wake the baby. He smiled at you, content with the end of a busy day. He pulled his phone out, checking his email, while he waited with you. Fifteen minutes pass by, and you see Rachel opening the door to the suite. She notices Sara sleeping on your chest, and gently wakes her up.

"Thank you so much," Rachel whispers, taking Sara back as you lifted her off your chest.

You got up from the couch, and Logan held the door open for you as the two of you made your way out. The sun had begun to set as the two of you walked down the main walkway lined with team motorhomes.

"I didn't know you were so good with kids babe," he chuckled, thinking about how he found you earlier.

"Me neither, but it really got me thinking..." you reached for his hand, wanting to hold it as you walked.

"Would you consider having kids someday?" you looked up at him.

"Only if you want to. It seems like a big thing we'd have to prepare for, and my first priority is your feelings baby," he smiled at you as you reached the exit gates. "What about you, how do you feel about kids?"

"I would love to start a family. You know, maybe with two or three little monsters running around the house," you playfully nudged him.

"Whatever you want babe," he wrapped his arm around you, as the two of you walked to the car, gazing out to the sun just barely above the horizon.
