In your F2 days, you were a Williams Junior driver for Prema. You had started dating Logan Sargeant, another Williams driver, driving for Rodin Motorsport. You had a fairly successful career showing promise to the future of the Williams F1 team. Mid-way through the Formula One season, Alex Albon was out, recovering from surgery, and you were tasked with being his replacement for the time being.

Behind the scenes, there were talks of having an all rookie lineup for Williams in F1, consisting of you and Logan, since there were rumors that Alex would be going to Mercedes the next year. It wasn't until the news broke about Alex's contract that the driver lineup for Williams was confirmed.

At the time, it felt like all the right things were happening at once, but you thought about the effects it would have on your relationship, given that you were already favored within the team. Things were already complicated with number one driver and number two driver dynamics, and having a relationship would make it worse. It was risky mixing work and personal relations, but you knew that risk going into your relationship with Logan.

Before the start of the new F1 season, you decided that you would have to choose between your livelihood and love. The two of you agreed that having a relationship on top of having to compete against each other would be overwhelming, so you broke up. You surprisingly got over the breakup fast, being consumed by the workload of training, but you heard through friends and family that Logan didn't take it as well.

Returning from the winter break of excessive training and education on the mechanics of the Williams F1 car, you were called in for a media day, as well as a couple days of media training, presumably with your new teammate, and the other drivers in the Williams program. Pulling up to the Williams headquarters, you were happy to finally be in Formula One, driving for the team that scouted you back in your karting days.

You walked into the lobby, signing in at the front desk, and making your way to the media department. You knew your way around the building as well as some parts of the factory like the back of your hand. You were excited to meet one of the new recruits, Lia, in person. You were also looking forward to seeing Franco and Zak again, having grown up karting with Zak, and being Franco's teammate back in F3. As for Logan, you hadn't talked to him since the breakup, aside from wishing him a happy birthday because your mother had reminded you.

Taking the elevator up to the media department, you were instantly greeted by a team of makeup artists and assistants, crowding you and demanding your attention. You always thought the makeup you did everyday was fine for photoshoots, but the makeup artists thought otherwise, wiping and cleansing your face as they rushed you into one of the nearby chairs near the makeshift vanities.

"Everyone's already been touched up, you're just late Hun," one of the assistants pointed out.

"I was told to be here before 8, and right now it's 7:15" you mumbled, confused as to why you were being lectured this early in the day.

After you got into your race suit, and the finishing touches were done on your face, you were immediately directed to the corner where your photo would be taken. Walking towards the lit up corner with a blue background, you passed by Logan, making brief eye contact before he looked away.

You got your pictures taken, and seeing the results from all the poses you were given made you a little giddy, since the idea that you would be racing in Formula One with a solid contract was starting to sink in. Shit was getting real. Next were team pictures, which you silently dreaded, but you could suck it up, this was your job, not just a little recreational club.

"Hey how's it going?" Logan approached you, with a familiar smile, finding his mark to stand at on the floor.

"Eh," you yawned, making sure not to rub your eyes and ruin your makeup, "could be better if I could get the sleep out of my eyes,"

Before Logan could respond, the two of you were being ordered by a photographer on how to pose.

"I want the two of you back to back, arms crossed, but still facing the camera, and then we're gonna bring in the other drivers and James,"

You and Logan listened, posing and smiling, but still looking serious. So far, media day with your ex-boyfriend wasn't too bad, you didn't really have to talk to him, but you knew that when the media and PR training days would come around, you'd have to engage. After taking the pictures of you and Logan, the photographer and the nearby assistants went to look for Zak, Franco, and Lia, leaving you and Logan alone.

"You know, my mom misses you," he blurts out, trying to make conversation.

"Really? Well she has my number, she can still text me," you chuckled, not getting the hint, "it's not like I'm dead,"

"No," he clears his throat, lowering his voice, "what she meant is that she misses hearing...hearing me talk about you all the time,"

"Then why don't you talk about me more? We broke up, but that doesn't mean you have to stop talking about my tales of brilliance," you tease, trying to lighten up the situation.

Logan grabs your arm lightly, "I'm being serious," he pauses, retrying his attempt at getting his message across, "I really miss you, I miss our late night talks, I miss you being my motivation to be the best version of myself,"

He gives you a sincere, genuine look of longing, despair even. You weren't expecting to be too emotional today, since you were in work mode. You were still staying true to the initial reasons why you wanted to end it. The comparisons of the two of you hadn't even started, so you felt like you still weren't in the clear when it came to work and personal conflicts.

"I'm really sorry Logan. I'm sticking with my gut, I just don't think taking this any further is going to be good for the team dynamic. This is going to sound selfish, but I think our racing careers, our jobs, our livelihoods are worth more value than our relationship,"

You could tell that those words broke his heart, just as much as it hurt the first time you said them to him all those months ago. From your point of view, you felt that since the two of you were young and still have yet to be in the prime of your lives, it wouldn't be smart to "settle down" this soon into your lives. Seeing Logan hurt, you wrapped your arms around him, giving him a firm hug. Though you didn't want a relationship with him again, you could still admit that you missed him.

"I hope you understand. Maybe later, but right now, when we have so much going for us...it just...it isn't the right time love,"

Your heart wrenching moment with Logan was interrupted when you saw the posse of assistants with the other drivers, leading them to their tape X's on the floor. You had more things to say to Logan, but it could wait, you were at work.
