Valerie
I woke up to voices speaking a foreign language..
I remembered the clinking of glasses, the gentle chatter. Then everything had exploded into chaos. Screams. Gunshots.
"Señor, ella se está despertando!" A voice called out.
(Sir, she's waking up!)My eyes fluttered opened. I found myself laying on a strangely comfortable bed. Pushing myself up, my vision still blurry as I take in my surroundings.
"How are you feeling?" Lucas questions me, his eyes still unexpressive.
My breath hitched at the sound of his voice.
"I- I feel fine..where- where am I?" I ask, stammering a few times.
"No need to worry, you are in good hands."
I don't know whether to laugh or not.
"And- you expect me to believe you? After what happened at that restaurant-?"
"Look, I would not have brought you there, if I knew that was going to happen." Lucas spoke in a calm tone, which surprisingly calmed me down.
"What even happened at the restaurant?" I ask.
"Just some bad people." He answered vaguely.
I let out a scoff. "I'm not a kid. So tell me the truth."
Lucas leaned in slightly. "Don't get too ahead of yourself. I know you're not a kid, but there are things you are better off not knowing."
And just when I was about to reply, somebody interrupted me.
"Señor, hay negocios que debe manejar."
(Sir, there is buisness for you to handle."Lucas looks over at the man. His eyes darkened , his jaw clenching tightly and his lips pursed.
He looked incredibly hot.
"Sí. Sí, lo sé, me lo han dicho mil veces."
(Yes. Yes, I know, I've been told a thousand times.)Woah.
His voice was deep and husky, each word rolling off his tongue effortlessly.
Okay. Maybe I'm crushing too hard.
Lucas turned his unwavering gaze in my direction, his face maintaining its usual deadpan expression.
His grey eyes flickered over my face, as he spoke low.
"I can arrange to send you back home if that's what you want.""Hm, what a gentleman. I'm ready to go home now."
"Okay." Lucas says ignoring my subtle tease.
Lucas' large hand reached out to grasp mine, a firm yet gentle grip on my hand.
He began to lead me through the vast halls, the air was thick with tension. My heart racing ever so slightly as he guided me towards his car.
