Chapter 17 | Gathering of Chiefs

Last time on Zodiac Odyssey: Three members of the seventh unit have returned: Murasaki Chinatsu, Emiko, and Anri. All three of them were sent out on patrol under Kyouka's orders, and tagging along with them was Rin. During their patrol, the four of them encounter a shuuki variant. Despite not being overly strong, it's shown to have great levels of speed and targeted the DDF members' vital areas; Injuring and disabling Emiko's shoulder and nearly fatally wounding Anri.

Fortunately for the sisters, Rin was there to switch in and deal with their speedy opponent. Because of its simple strong suit, Rin was able to overpower the variant with his own much superior speed and physical strength; Along with the aid of Emiko's Inabikari.

Afterwards, the four of them were able to return to the seventh unit's dorms without dying. Additionally, Rin has gained the trust of Chinatsu or perhaps it's much more than that?

The day of the Chiefs' assembly has finally arrived. But that's not the only thing...

[Kyouka]: "Rin, you're also coming to the Chiefs' assembly."

[Rin]: "Huh? Why me?"

Even the other members of the seventh unit were surprised by the announcement...

[Kyouka]: "I'm sorry to spring this on you so suddenly, but it was a request by the Commander... Himari, you'll be in charge of the dorm."

[Himari]: "Yes, ma'am!"

[Chinatsu]: "Aww, such a shame, and here I thought we could talk some more."

[Emiko]: "Leave him alone sis, you've been too touchy-feely ever since this morning."

[Anri]: "..." She's too busy reading a book to even pay attention to her surroundings.

[Nei]: "What do you think Rin-san was called for, Shushu-san?"

[Shushu]: *Suruga Shushu has stopped working*

[Nei]: "SHUSHU?!!"

[Kyouka]: "Rin, go get ready." She ordered.

[Rin]: "Yes, ma'am." He nodded.

Kyouka and Rin were now seen in front of the entrance of the DDF's headquarters(which is located at the tenth unit). Out of respect, Rin helped Kyouka by holding onto her sword; wearing it over his left hip. But before they could continue, Kyouka had something she wanted to speak Rin with...
