"Unless, of course, the Rainbooms don't manage to make it to their set—or are held up for some reason." Sonant said as Trixie smirked and laughed under her breath as me and the boys smirked.

Sundown Glare POV

Me, Dusk and the Rainbooms were on the stage for the finals, getting set up for tonight.

"Check, one, two, testing, testing..." Rainbow Dash said in the microphone.

A tap on its head points out that it has no power. Me being at a soundboard off to one side. I slide one of the fader controls up to its maximum setting, and Rainbow Dash tries the mic again.

"Testing..." Rainbow Dash said, amplified.

The boost turns her voice into a souped-up chorus of echoes accompanied by a deafening feedback whine that sets the entire band's eardrums and teeth vibrating—not to mention the stage. Grinning sheepishly, I bring the fader all the way down again to break off the cacophony. Cut to Fluttershy spinning her tambourine on a stand and making an adjustment with an Allen wrench.

"This doesn't make any sense. We were awful! Doesn't anybody else think it's strange that we're the ones that made it to the finals?" Fluttershy asked.

"Very strange." Trixie stated.

"What are you doing here, Trixie? Pretty sure the losers are supposed to be up there in the cheap seats." Rainbow Dash stated.

"The Great and Powerful Trixie is the most talented girl at Canterlot High. It is I who deserve to be in the finals—and I will not be denied!" Trixie stated.

On these last two words, she snaps her fingers and then one of her band mates has seized the end of a lever protruding from the floor. One good hard yank opens up a large trapdoor under us, dumping us screaming out of sight and leaving Applejack's hat and a couple of loose pages of notes to flutter down after them.

"See you never!" Trixie said as she cackled.

The flaps swing shut over the indignant/scared/freaked-out captives to black.

Allegro POV

"Told you someone would give them a shove." I stated.

"She didn't shove them. She pulled the lever." Sonant stated.

Anthem groaned and I facepalmed.

"Go back to sleep, Sonant." Anthem stated.

It was time for the finals and it was Trixie first.

You'd better believe I got tricks up my sleeve

And I captivate 'cause I'm powerful and great, yeah, yeah [whoa, oh]

You'd better believe I got tricks up my sleeve

See me dominate 'cause I'm powerful and great, yeah, yeah [oh, oh]

Sundown Glare POV

"Give it up, Rainbow Dash. You've been tryin' at this for hours. It's not gonna open." Applejack stated after Rainbow Dash tried to open the door.

"Maybe it doesn't even matter that we're trapped down here. I don't think the counter-spell would've worked anyway." Dusk stated.

"'Course it woulda worked, Dusk...assumin' a certain band member didn't try to hog the spotlight the whole time we were tryin' to play it!" Applejack stated.
