A/N: Okay, to avoid confusion when Viktor and Maria are in their suits, I will refer to them by their superhero names. When they're not in costume, I'll use their regular names.

It hadn't been more than a day since their encounter, but Maria had already called, eager and ready to start her training. And Viktor was eager, too.
Viktor woke up very early in the morning before the sun had risen. Looking down at his chest, he saw a very naked, very beautiful Eve lying on his chest with only the sheets covering her. Carefully, he moved out from under her, letting Eve grasp ahold of a pillow in his place as he slipped out of bed and ran out at super speed, leaving a small note on the bedside.
He arrived at the top of a skyscraper overlooking Chicago in his Impulse suit with his mask already on, covering his face as he stood there with his arms crossed, looking down at the beautiful sight before him.
The sun had barely begun to rise over the horizon, bathing the city in a beautiful orange glow as light bounced off the windows' reflections and people began to wake and move about.
Impulse waited there for another three minutes before the sound of shoes skidding across concrete caught his attention.
"You're late," he said without turning, already knowing who it was as Velocity walked up next to him in costume.
"Sorry. Still getting used to my powers," she apologized.
"Well, that's what we're going to fix starting today," Impulse said, looking to his right at Velocity.
"Try and keep up," he said before disappearing in a flash of lightning. Velocity watched with wide eyes and dropped jaw as the lightning trail shot off into the city faster than she could track. Her shocked expression turned into an excited smile as she chased after him.
Velocity ran into the city but stopped when she lost sight of Impulse's lightning trail as she looked around the nearly empty streets, confused. A small flash of light on the ground got her to look up, and her jaw almost dropped at the sight above her. Jumping from building to building, roof to roof, was Impulse, leaving a lightning trail even Velocity was having a hard time tracking as she watched the trail bounce between buildings.
'His speed. It's unreal,' she thought as her eyes managed to catch up to the trail and found it racing down the side of a building three blocks ahead. The trail went out into the street before stopping in the middle of the road and shooting toward her.
Velocity's eyes widened as, for a brief second, she caught a glimpse of Impulse in his run as her eyes widened. Around him, yellow lightning sparked off his white and gold suit, his masked face one of concentration with his brows pulled together, giving a look of seriousness to him as Velocity subconsciously gulped in fear. His posture was that of an expert runner with his hands flat and in the form of knife hands as if he was cutting through the space before him.
