Chapter 6

"where have you been?"

Jing Xian greeted Shang Nanchen as if nothing had happened.

Shang Nanchen came over and looked at Jing Xian twice more.

He had never seen such a confident woman in his life.

Jing Xian looked down at herself, then looked up and asked him, "Is there a problem? Am I not wearing the right clothes?"

"I'm dressed." Shang Nanchen walked into the yard and asked curiously, "It's so cold in the morning, what are you doing out here?"

Jing Xian looked at him in confusion and said, "Captain Shang, you're not home so early in the morning. I've prepared dinner, shouldn't I come out to look for you?"

Shang Nanchen, who has been alone since joining the army: "..."

He really didn't know that someone was looking for him when he came out for a while in the morning.

"I'm going to the army to run exercises." They get up before dawn every morning and run five kilometers regardless of winter or summer.

Jing Xian really didn't know.

When I entered the house, the two children had already set the table and taken the dishes.

"Let's eat!"

Jing Xian opened the pot, scraped off the dry noodles, and placed them on the lid made of sorghum stalks. Shang Nanchen took it over with great tact. She put the dishes into the basin, and Shang Nanchen took it over.

Jing Xian cleaned the pot, put some cold water in it, and added some firewood to the stove.

"I didn't have time to clean the fish this morning, so let's just eat it now." After Jing Xian finished speaking, Shang Nanchen paused with his chopsticks, watched the two children wolfing down the food, and then he picked up a piece of fish with chopsticks and put it in his mouth.

Is this what you call making do with food?

So he used to eat pig food?

"Wow, there's meat!" Fusheng picked up a piece of meat, as if he had discovered a new continent.

He didn't eat it, and put the meat back, picking up the pickled cabbage and vermicelli inside. Jing Xian could see the boy's thoughts, he was so greedy, but he couldn't bear to eat it.

She picked up the meat and put it in Fusheng's bowl, and then found a piece for Tiedan.

The two children looked at her at the same time.

Jing Xian said, "There isn't much meat on the big bones we bought, but there is some. You two are too thin and lacking nutrition. Eat more." Jing Xian looked at a man who was eating in silence and put a piece of fat meat in his bowl.

Shang Nanchen picked it up and put it in her bowl, saying, "I don't want to eat this, you eat it."

"Shang Nanchen, do you want to look at yourself in the mirror?" Although men of this era are very thin, Shang Nanchen is really thin and looks unrecognizable.

The father and his two sons looked like they had walked out of a refugee camp.

"You eat it! There is meat in the cafeteria. I can eat it every now and then." Shang Nanchen did not lie. There was meat in the cafeteria. Although he didn't eat it often, he could still eat it.

"This dish is made with the bone soup I made yesterday. I'll just eat this." Jing Xian didn't like vermicelli, so she picked out the pickled cabbage to eat. "Besides, you have to train every day. It's useless to eat a full stomach. You need to eat something oily so that your bones won't be so brittle."
