The night before Charlie entered the games was his interview with Caesar Flickerman. Carolina sat on the balcony, watching each tribute carefully between Cyrus and his little sister, Odessa.
The girl from District 1 was interviewed first. She went with the lust act. Everything about the girl's interview reminded Carolina of her own. Her dress was practically see-through, and Caesar took every chance he could to touch her. He would hug, twirl, and hold her hand, and the Capitol ate every second of it up.
"That is quite an outfit, don't you think?" Caesar asked the girl.
"Yes, Caesar, and it feels good too," she said seductively.
"It does? Let me see," Caesar said, reaching out to touch the girl's dress.
The District 1 girl gasped at his action and giggled. "Bad!"
"Oh! You mean it feels good on you!" Caesar gasped. "I'm sorry! I almost got myself into trouble there! Bad boy! Bad boy! Slap my hand!"
The girl slapped his hand without a question.
Even if Charlie wasn't going into the arena with her, Carolina would still wish the girl didn't make it out. If she became the victor, that poor girl would meet a fate worse than death.
The District 1 boy was next.
"Now, I think we were all impressed when you volunteered for these games," Caesar Flickerman said. "What made you want to do that?"
"Well, my brother won the 67th Hunger Games," the boy smirked. "I thought that if he could do it, then I could too."
"Ah yes, Augustus Braun, the Cavalier Career, Panem's Favorite Son!" Caesar shouted. "Now, I know your brother couldn't be here tonight to wish you luck, but has he taught you any of his secrets?"
The District 1 boy nodded. "He taught me everything I know, Caesar! I am ready for these games!"
"Well, I think we speak for everyone in the Capitol when I say that we are excited to see if winning the Hunger Games runs in the family!"
The crowd roared with applause as the boy stood up to exit the stage. The next interview was with the girl from 2, who showed off her confidence, and then the boy from 2, who decided to charm the crowd, although Carolina believed he came off more arrogant and cocky than anything else.
The interviews of the tributes from District 3 as well as the District 4 girl came and went in a blur. Carolina was tapping her foot anxiously throughout the entirety of their interviews, waiting for her brother to walk onto the stage. Cyrus noticed her tick and put a hand on her thigh to stop her. She knew he did that as an attempt to calm her, but it only did the opposite.
"Now, everyone give a warm welcome to Charles Seymour!" Caesar announced.
Carolina straightened in her seat and leaned forward. He walked onto the stage in a black suit with a sea-blue bow tie. His cheeks were pudgier than usual from Carolina forcing him to eat twice the amount he was used to, which ended up making him look even younger. As he walked, he smiled timidly at the crowd and waved shyly.
When he sat down in the seat beside Caesar, the crowd calmed down.
"So, Charles, how are you finding the Capitol so far?" Caesar asked.
"I like it," Charlie nodded. "I've always wanted to visit."
"Oh, is that so? Why is that?"
Charlie chewed on his lip nervously and looked at the crowd.
"Well, my sister's boyfriend is from the Capitol, and he's always told me amazing stories about what it is like to live in the Capitol. He told me that we would move here once he and my sister got married, but I guess my visit came early."
