I'm taking requests because writer's block is a thing.
You've become emotionally exhausted from working so many intense cases recently. After a case is done and you're home, you still can't get them off your mind. You decide to call your best friend, Spencer Reid, and invite him over to talk.
You hear a knock at your door and open it to see a smile on Spencer's face, but he sees the complete opposite on you.
"Hey, what's the emergency?" he asks light-heartedly. All you texted him was the word "emergency"; it's something you both text each other when either of you need the other immediately. He wasn't expecting to see a sad face, though.
You sigh quietly and move out of the way so he can enter.
"Come in," you say in a low tone. Spencer walks in and gives you a small, friendly smile as he enters. Once he closes the door, his face is filled with worry and concern. You slowly wrap your arms around his torso and plant your head on his chest; you hear his calm heartbeat and it relaxes you a bit. It always does. He wraps his arms around you in return, now even more worried since you didn't say anything. You sigh quietly again.
"(Y/N), you're worrying me. What's wrong?" he holds you close and strokes the back of your head to over comfort. He knows it must be pretty serious for you to be this silent.
"I hardly feel anything. All of my energy is drained," you respond quietly. He lays the side of his head on the top of yours.
"I understand. I really do. Say whatever is on your mind. We'll get through this together," he says reassuringly, also in a soft voice. You slowly let go of him and grab his hand to lead him to the couch. You both sit and you hug a pillow as you speak, not looking at anything in particular.
"Work has been a lot recently. Seeing the things we do, using a lot of our energy running and thinking..." You sigh. He can hear the tiredness in your voice and can visibly see the effect it has on you. He moves a little closer and puts a hand on your back.
"I know, (Y/N). I feel the same way sometimes."
You look up at his face with a pleading expression.
"How do you deal with it?"
Spencer meets your pleading glance with an empathetic glance in return. His soft hazel eyes look at you with care and reassurance.
"It's not easy, but you have to take time for yourself. Focus on the simple, mundane things in life—like enjoying a nice meal, or getting into a good book."
Spencer slowly puts his hand on your shoulder and gives it a soft, reassuring squeeze.
"And most importantly, don't be afraid to lean on your friends and family. You don't have to go through it all alone."
"That's why I texted you." You look back down. A subtle, endearing smile appears on Spencer's face as he hears you say this. He gently brushes the back of his hand against your cheek, his touch tender and soothing.
"I'm here for you. You know you can call me anytime, for anything. I can always make time for you."
He shifts a little closer to you on the couch, trying to provide you with all the comfort and reassurance he can. You glance at him again then lean on him. He happily wraps his arm around you, pulling you closer with a small smile on his face.
"Tell me something," you say, closing your eyes. You like hearing his rambles; it can be relaxing in a weird way. Spencer's face lights up a bit as he gets ready to launch into a rousing discussion. He loves that you like to hear him talk and he's always eager to share his knowledge and passion with you.
