Spencer is anxiously waiting in the prison's visiting room; he has bruises and cuts on his face and didn't want to worry anyone on the outside, especially not you who has just walked in and sit on the other side of the divider, your face full of worry and concern.

You just can't stand seeing your best friend in prison like this when he's not supposed to be. You and the team don't know how the hell he got in here; who framed him, why he was in Mexico in the first place, nothing!

Spencer isn't the type of guy that would do well in a place like this. He never talked about it but he shows a ton of signs of autism and you all love his little quirks that it gives him. Not this place though. In this place, he would have to basically pretend to be someone else so that he isn't targeted. You see now that he wasn't too successful.

Spencer tries to smile reassuringly but fails. You lean forward a little, wishing you could cup his face and patch him up yourself.

"It's not as bad as it looks," he says softly with a small smile. You raise your hand and rest it on the glass that separates you two.

"Spencer..." You feel like you could cry. "You shouldn't be the one going through this."

He takes a deep breath and copies your action. He meets your gaze with a mixture of guilt and gratitude in his eyes.

"(Y/N), I'm fine, really," he reassures you. "I just have to get through this."

"And you're going to," you quickly add. "Don't for a second think that you won't."

It breaks your heart to see that even though he's smiling a little at you, he's still masking his true personality in front of you when he never used to. You lean back in your chair and cross your arms, now looking a bit more pissed than sad.

"What did they do to you?"

"I...just got in a few fights. Some other inmates thought it would be a good idea to test the new guy," Spencer admits, trying to downplay the situation but his voice betrays him a bit.

"I've gone through worse, I can handle this," he adds.

It's true; he has. He's been tortured and drugged for two days straight before so being beaten up is basically nothing. It still makes your blood boil at how nonchalant he's being.

"That doesn't matter," you snap quietly. Spencer's eyes widen a bit, taken aback at your sudden outburst. He had expected you to be upset, of course, but not this upset. He lets out a sigh and runs a hand through his messy hair.

"(Y/N), I...I know this isn't fair, and I know I shouldn't be here, but I'm trying to make the best of it. I have to stay strong...For you."

"For me?" you interject loudly. "No, for you! Don't worry about me!"

Spencer takes a deep breath after flinching slightly at your louder outburst.

"Of course I'm going to worry about you. You're my best friend," he says softly.

"But I'm not the one in here!"

Your eyes heat up, showing tiny tears at the edges. You don't care if you've gotten attention from other people, you just have to let your emotions out. You briefly look away and take a breath. He takes a shaky breath as well, trying to steady himself.

"(Y/N), please don't cry," he pleads, his voice soft and gentle. You sniffle and lean forward a little, looking him dead in the eyes with your watery ones.
