Trust

Keefe POV.

I leaped to Havenfield just to see that everyone was staring at me. "I know I'm hot but can you guys stop staring?" I tried to crack a joke but my voice didn't even have the slightest tint of mischievousness.

"Keefe are you okay?" Biana asked me obviously concerned. 

"Who me? Of course I'm fine!" I said weakly. Biana looked like she didn't believe me, actually not just her, everyone looked like they didn't believe me. Fortunate for me, Fitz saved me by saying, "Let's go inside now." Everyone obeyed and silently walked inside Havenfield to see two figures that looked so broken, but also very angry, with dark eye bags. 

"You can go up to her room and see if there are any clues." Edaline said. Everyone listened to Edaline as we slowly went up the stairs of Havenfield, no one spoke a word, we walked right in front of Sophie's room, and just stared at the door. I was getting impatient, I wanted to know why she betrayed us. I was getting sick of the silence, so I broke it. "Let's go in and see if we can find something, anything that will save her"

I opened the door and stepped into her room with everyone following me. My heart broke even more when I surveyed her room only to realize everything was the same, she never took anything. Everything in her room was gone except Ella, the blue stuffed elephant with a Hawaiian t-shirt that is always on Sophie's bed. 

I walked inside her room more to survey more things. I realized that she took her iPod too. It is always on her study desk but now it was gone. Everything in her room, and I mean every single thing in her room other than Ella, and her iPod was gone. My eyes scanned everything again, hoping, just hoping there would be some sort of clue somewhere. As my eyes moved across the room, something caught my eye. A note. There was a note on Sophie's bed.

"Hey guys! Come here! I found something" I yelled. My heart swelled with hope as everyone rushed to me to look at the note. I read the note out loud. 

"It says, I'm sorry I am a failure ~ Sophie" I said all the hope swelling in my chest now gone. Everyone looked like they also had some hope swelling in their chests, which was now gone.

"Pathetic! She can't just say that! She joins the Neverseen and denies it when we ask her, and now she runs away leaving us a pathetic not saying 'I'm sorry I am a failure' and acts like that solves everything." Shady Mc.Silver Bangs says. 

"Wait hold up, what about Vertina? I can ask her and see if she knows anything!" Biana practically yelled 

"Woah there! Back the T-Rex Up! Who's Vertina?" I asked. I remember something, I heard that name before but I forgot.(A/N I know he has photographic memory but...)

"Me! I'm Vertina!" A voice came from somewhere in the room but I couldn't figure out where though. I scanned the room carefully, and I found the owner of the voice. A spectral mirror! Oh right now I remember! 

" Vertina! Nice to meet you! But do you know anything about what is going on?" Biana very carefully asked.

"No! I'm sorry! I don't know about what you are talking about! I can give you something though! I remember Sophie just yesterday leaving Havenfield after putting a note on her bed. She got some weird looking clothes out of her closet, they were so ugly, looked like something humans would wear, but even uglier than that, and she wore them before she went somewhere. She has also been a little nervous and depressed lately. I have asked her what was wrong many times and she looked a little panicked when she said that nothing was wrong. Hopefully, that helped! That's all I can remember." Vertina said.

 I can tell she was being completely honest but something was odd about her, it felt like everything she was telling us was true, but she wasn't saying something. She was hiding something from us. Did Vertina had something to do with all of this? Could we trust her?
