The planet Alaria's landmass is one supercontinent. The rest is ocean. Security Officer Harod found his pod landed in the vast sea. He thought to himself, "There's a beauty in this. Even if the circumstances paint this as a shit show." He looked around for any sign of land but saw nothing. That was until he saw a head sticking out of the water's surface.
It was massive even from far away it looked big. The head was a mixture of dark blue and gray scales. On it were six eyes. All closed. Running from between the nostrils to between the eyes at the back of its head was a massive fin with a blood red membrane. Its teeth were covered in gunk from whatever it had been eating. Perched on the gaps between its teeth, picking at the gunk, were bird-like creatures cleaning its teeth.
He pulled out his tablet and took a picture of the head. He then received a message from his tablet, "Employee, you have successfully captured an image of two new undiscovered species. The bird-like creatures are Sea Ravens. The larger creature has been labeled Harod's Leviathan after the one who discovered it. Good work." "Yay. I've always wanted an alien monster named after me." Harod said sarcastically.
He continued to observe the head. When the Sea Ravens had picked its teeth clean and flew off it opened its eyes. Harod thought it would just sink back into the deep. However, before it could, another creature in the sea jumped out of the water to feast upon the Leviathan. Harod said, "Should have figured there would be another sea monster." Before the large, shark like creature could strike the larger beast, the Leviathan sank below the surface and the other creature followed.
However, less than a minute later, the Leviathan burst out of the ocean with the other in its mouth. Harod was surprised by that. But that surprise turned to fear when he saw the full body of the leviathan. It was 150 meters long and 75 meters wide. A sea monster of biblical proportions.
Harod went back into his pod. And started activating the feature the life pods have of seeking the nearest land using drones. A few moments later, the drones found the main landmass of Alaria that was several hundred miles away. He then activated the lifepod's engine to start going to land. However, below the ocean's surface the vibrations were picked up by the membrane on the head of the Leviathan.
It immediately turned to follow the pod and swam at extreme speed. Harod's Leviathan had two arms to help it propel itself through the water. Each gap in the fingers had webbing for further aid. The pod had a few miles between it and the Leviathan. But, that gap was quickly closing. Before long the pod stopped moving. Harod exclaimed, "What the hell!? Why did it stop!?"
He opened the window on top of the pod and saw the worst sight.
He saw the Leviathan. All six of its eyes looked down at him. His pod in its hand. Harod went and closed the window and tried to deploy a flare to distract it. But the Leviathan's hand blocked the port the flare would launch out of. The Leviathan took the pod to the seafloor and to an air pocket in which led to a massive underwater cave.
Harod exited the pod once the Leviathan was gone. He didn't know where he could go so he went forward. As he went deeper into the cavern an uneasy feeling crept up onto him. In the cavern he heard little cries. Tiny little calls coming from his front.
As he stumbled further through he saw infant Leviathans. They were waiting for food. And their mother had delivered it. They crawled towards him using their little arms. He pulled out his knife and managed to kill all four of the infants. He went back to where they were and found the nest from where they hatched. But there were five eggs. He was suddenly grabbed from behind. The fifth one was much further developed now looking like it was the size of teo adult males. Harod stabbed his knife into its arm. But that only annoyed it further.
The juvenile Harod's Leviathan picked him up and threw him. Harod looked into its mouth after he recovered and thought, "It doesn't have teeth. It can't chew yet. It's probably trying to ground me up so it can swallow me up." He wasn't far from the truth. But he wasn't correct either. The main goal of the juvenile was not to grind him into paste on the cavern's walls. But rather, to make it so Harod couldn't dodge its secret weapon.
Within the juvenile's body was a specialized organ. This organ filtered the water the adolescent would drink from the exit of the air pocket and boiled it. This organ connected to specialized canals that had openings in the mouth of the juvenile. The water was hot enough to melt easily through scales. Capable of melting through flesh even easier.
The juvenile Harod's Leviathan opened its mouth and fired a jet of boiling water at Harod. It connected with Harod's body and burnt his exposed skin and melted away some of his uniform. On the skin the water made contact with, were burns caused by the boiling heat. Those burns didn't stay burns however, his skin was softening.
There was a chemical mixed into the water that caused skin to soften and eventually the burnt skin fell off in a big, mushy clump of flesh. Then, the juvenile shot another jet of boiling water which managed to hit his now exposed torso which had the flesh melt off after the water touched it.
At this point, the only skin that remained on his body was on his head, legs, and other random chunks of skin that didn't get hit with enough water. Harod was still conscious but his vision was fading. He didn't have much longer. Eventually he finally succumbed to his injuries. The juvenile Harod's Leviathan ignored his corpse.
The only thing it cared about were the chunks of flesh that fell off because of the boiling water. Its lack of teeth at this adolescent stage of life meant it couldn't chew. Thus, it required something soft that it didn't have to chew. As it approached the chunks of melted, gooey flesh it began to feast. The juvenile had its meal. And Harod's duty as a security officer of the Galactic Research Organization came to a gruesome end.
