As days passed, Nero continued studying the valley of Alaria and its fauna. Xenoppossums, Tonitruapes. He learned which fruits he could consume and what he could not. And with the Death Adder on his side, he had protection when it was nearby. But over the days, he was also working on a plan.
How he would kill this other apex. And what could it possibly be if it destroyed the Death Adder’s family. Occasionally, he would stumble upon large footprints. To big for anything except Tonitruapes. And the Adder had no footprints as it had no feet.
Nero thought that it is potentially the footprints of the other Apex. But he had no evidence. However, he decided that he would go with that theory as he had nothing else to go on. So on top of planning he also studied the prints. Though there wasn't much to learn.
Whilst it gives you a rough idea about size, height, and potentially length, they are just prints at the end of the day. Nothing more. He couldn’t devise his plan with just prints. So he put the prints on the backburner and moved on to find any other manners of finding put about the other apex.
He used pieces of parchment to sketch some rough ideas he had of the creature. He obvious was just doing this for a rough idea. To think he already knew it's appearance would be foolish. So he drew. And he did so for quite a while.
Later in the day, he stopped drawing. He went out to go get food. He saw the Death Adder returning with a dead Tonitruape Calf but the Adder rarely shared. Plus, Nero learned Tonitruape meat is as toxic as pufferfish meat is when not prepped right.
So he went out and using his knife he killed a set of Xenoppossums and lit a flame to cook them. He skinned the fur off the Xenoppossums to get to the meat. Then he put them on a spit roast and proceeded to get the Xenopossums nice and brown. He then dug in.
It tasted like mutton mixed with a tiny bit of steak. It was not exactly delectable persay but it was food he could digest. Thus, it was OK. After all, it is better to have food over starving. Especially when surviving in the wilds of a foreign world.
The Adder looked over at him after it finished it's meal. It laid and curled up around Nero and the fire he lit, using the heat to warm up a bit. Once Nero put the fire out, it returned to its den alongside Nero. And the pair of survivors, one hailing from the harsh world of Alaria, the other from Earth, went to sleep. Awaiting the next day of Alarian life.
