The glow of Nia's phone illuminated her face as she exchanged messages with Kiran, their conversation flowing effortlessly as always. But then, out of the blue, Kiran's message appeared on the screen, and Nia's heart skipped a beat.
Kiran: Hey Nia, there's something I've been wanting to tell you...
Nia's fingers hovered over the keyboard, anticipation tingling in her veins as she waited for Kiran's next words.
Kiran: I've really enjoyed getting to know you these past few weeks. You're funny, kind, and just really cool to talk to. And well, I've been thinking... maybe we could take things to the next level?
Nia's eyes widened in shock as she read Kiran's proposal. This was not at all what she had expected, and her mind raced as she struggled to process his words.
Nia: Wait, what? Are you serious?
Kiran: Yeah, I am. I like you, Nia. Like, like like you. And I was wondering if maybe you'd want to, you know, be my girlfriend?
Nia's heart pounded in her chest as she grappled with Kiran's confession. She had never even considered the possibility of dating him, and the suddenness of his proposal caught her completely off guard.
Nia: Wow, I... I don't know what to say. This is all so unexpected.
Kiran: I know, it's a lot to take in. But I really feel a connection with you, Nia. You're special to me, and I want to see where this goes.
Nia's mind raced as she tried to make sense of her feelings. She liked Kiran, of course she did – he was funny, kind, and always there for her when she needed him. But romantic feelings? That was something she had never considered before.
Nia: Kiran, I... I need some time to think about this. It's not that I don't like you, it's just... this is all so sudden.
Kiran: Hey, I get it. Take all the time you need. Just know that whatever you decide, I'll always be here for you.
With a heavy heart, Nia ended the conversation, the weight of Kiran's proposal hanging in the air between them. As she lay in bed, her mind whirring with thoughts and emotions, one question echoed in her mind: would she take a chance on love, or would she let fear hold her back from the possibility of something truly special?
