Sid chuckled. As soon as Akshit opened the door, he saw Avni standing there and was about to knock.
Akshit: Oh hi. Aaj subah subah yaha
Avu: Hnn. But tumne apna kya haal kia hai?
Akshit: All thanks to him
He said pointing to Sid standing inside. Avu cused herself for her wrong timing. Sid was just looking here and there. Akshit shook his head.
Akshit: Ok you guys talk. I am going to washroom
Akshit spoke before any one of them find a chance and runs away. He went out leaving the two of them alone with each other. Avu walked inside not having any other choice before her.
Avu: Hi
She said giving an awkward smile.
Sid: Hey. Nice to see you after so long
Avu: Same here
Then both there in an uncomfortable silence trying to find appropriate words and wondering how and when they reached at this stage. They were the best of friends and could talk non-stop and always complain they had less time and so much talk but today they did not even know how to initiate a conversation with each other.
Avu: Well congratulations for your project. It was a huge one
Sid: Ya umm thanks
He said giving a small smile to her.
Avu: Well I guess we should get back to work then
Sid: Ya okk
Avu turned around too leave.
Sid: (mumbled) Shit
Before he could process anything, his tongue decided to betray him and he ended up calling her name. She stopped and turned back.
Avu: Yes?
Sid: Umm well I was uhh thinking
Avu: What?
Sid: Can you take out sometime today for lunch maybe? If you are free
He added the last part quickly.
Avu: Umm I am kinda afraid but....
Akshit: (cuts her) Of course she has time today. She does not has any meeting today or any important one coming up in this week
Avu: I have one day after tomorrow
Akshit: Oh come on Avi you too know that is a small company and not very important deal. You do not have to spend days in preparing for it and you are not leading the project also
Avu: But Hazel?
Akshit: What about her? Do not bring that innocent kid in between. She loves spending time with me. I love spending time with her. I have time. I can be with her. You two go out and enjoy. It is been long since you two had some fun time with each other
Avu sighed.
Avu: Alright fine. We can go out for lunch
Sid: Ok great then
Avu left for her cabin glaring Akshit.
Akshit: Dekh bhai aese manate hai kisiko date par jaane ke lie. Mein nhi aata na time par to wo mana karke chali jaati tujhe. Aur tu saale mujhe maarne par tula tha. Kadar hi nhi hai
Sid rolled his eyes at his best friend's drama.
Sid: Chal nautanki matt kar. Aur tujhe kisne bola ye date hai? I am just taking my best friend because it is long since we spent some quality time together. Nothing more. Nothing less. That's all
Akshit: Hnn dekhte hai. By the way ho sake to do tell her your feelings
Sid: I do not know Akshit. I am still not sure about this feelings thing yet. I mean I do not know her reaction and I do not even know why she is not talking to me. Things are so awkward between us
Akshit kept his hand on his shoulder.
Akshit: Do not worry. Everything will be alright. Jab tujhe sahi lage tu bata dena usko. Agar aaj lage to do not think much. Just go for it
Sid nodded.
