Accidental pregnancy? Fake dating/forced marriage? Swoon-worthy banter? Cute nickname just for her? Respectful MMC? Mid-size FMC?

Find that all and more in Royally Bumped by @minimoxx

Royally Bumped is a contemporary romance that will leave readers wanting to turn the page.

What happens when, down on her luck, FMC Mila Kennedy spots her recent ex-boyfriend at a club? It's simple. Make him jealous, of course. And what better way to make him jealous than dancing and flirting with hunky Lucas? Little did Mila know that hers and Lucas's chemistry would be off the charts, leading to a steamy one-night stand.

Fast forward two weeks later, where we find Mila sitting in her bathroom waiting for the results of a pregnancy test. She's been under a lot of stress lately. Newly graduated. New job. Stress can make our bodies do all kinds of weird things. Unfortunately for Mila, it isn't the stress that is causing her period to be late. It's a pregnancy.

Luckily for Mila, her one-night stand, Lucas, left his number. Unluckily for Mila, Lucas isn't exactly who he said he was. He isn't Lucas at all. He's Prince Kai Lucas Abbott—fifth in line to the British throne.

After a serious talk, Mila and Kai decide together that Mila will have the baby and raise it on her own to keep it and her out of royal life, while Kai sends her money. It isn't an ideal situation, but it's what Mila ultimately decides on. Kai doesn't—or better yet, can't—be involved in the pregnancy or with the baby after birth without both he and Mila facing backlash from the media and consequences from the royal family. It seems cut and dried, right?

That is until Prince Kai is splayed all over the tabloids for his wild—and uncharacteristic—drunken behavior. After Mila receives a series of frantic messages from Kai, she agrees to meet up with him. After a drunken confession to his mother and a security breach, the cats out of the bag. This pregnancy can no longer be hidden. The only option for Mila and Kai is to come out as a couple, get engaged, and raise this baby as a royal.

Chapter ten leaves off with Mila having to move into Kai's cottage. Can they make this work? What about their respective futures? What happens if Mila falls in love with someone else? You'll only find these things out if you read the rest of Royally Bumped.

So, I'll start with the bad, then the good. While semicolons are used in some literary works, using them in fiction is rarely needed. In most places that this author used semicolons, it could have easily been two separate sentences. In addition to semicolons, there are also large sentences that could easily be broken down into smaller bite-sized pieces. One sentence I read had 55+ words in it. Some parts also felt repetitive in the beginning. Most of these things improved through the chapters.

Now, for the good. This story is so beautifully formatted, aesthetically pleasing, and reader-engagement friendly. The pacing is immaculate. It doesn't feel too fast or slow. It's slow enough to give me the details I need but fast enough to keep my attention. In addition to those, the sensory detail is amazing as well. This author provides enough sensory detail that readers can feel like they are in the scene with the characters, without it being too much. Although some of the chapters are on the longer side, they're paced so well and filled with so much going on that readers will speed through them. Lastly, the characters are realistic and relatable, and the dialogue reads nicely.

Overall, I highly recommend reading Royally Bumped. It isn't typically the kind of story I read, but I will definitely be finishing it. It's just that good.

 It's just that good
