SAAIRA

As I lay there, grappling with my inability to sleep, the relentless glare of the lights above only added to my frustration.

Each passing moment seemed to amplify my restlessness, replacing any remnants of nervousness with sheer exasperation.

The prospect of enduring the night wide awake loomed heavily, especially with a slew of post-wedding rituals awaiting me come morning.

The mere idea of facing everyone with dark circles under my eyes churned my stomach, amplifying my discomfort.

The realization hit me like a jolt of electricity, abruptly pulling me from my thoughts.

Glancing over at Advik, who lay peacefully asleep, I couldn't help but marvel at his ability to drift off so effortlessly.

"Guess he's one of those lucky ones," I thought wryly, my gaze drifting over the serene lines of his face, from his closed eyelids to his impeccably shaped nose, and finally to his lips.

A mixture of fascination and trepidation welled up within me as I stared at his lips, their softness and allure pulling me in.

Without a second thought, my hand extended, drawn by an inexplicable urge to feel their texture.

But before I could make contact, reality came crashing back with a forceful jolt.

Recoiling in alarm, I hastily withdrew my hand, the sudden movement causing me to lose my balance and tumble off the bed with an undignified thud.

Lying there on the floor, a mix of shock and embarrassment washed over me.

Slowly, I gathered myself, pushing up with a wince as a slight twinge of pain shot through me.

I stole a glance at Advik, hoping my mishap hadn't disturbed his slumber.

To my relief, he remained peacefully asleep, undisturbed by my clumsiness.

His serene countenance, bathed in the soft glow of the room, almost seemed ethereal, and for a fleeting moment, I envied his ability to slip into oblivion so effortlessly.

With a resigned sigh, I dusted off my clothes and stood up, determined not to let the oppressive brightness of the lights dictate my night any longer.

It was time to take matters into my own hands.

I grabbed my pillow and lifted the duvet, scanning the room before my eyes settled on the closet door.

Tiptoeing towards it, the jingle of my anklets seemed unusually loud in the silence.

I cast a nervous glance back at Advik, who remained peacefully asleep, completely unfazed by the noise.

Rolling my eyes at his ability to sleep through anything, I silently scolded myself for tiptoeing unnecessarily.

With a determined step, I made my way to the closet, the door creaking softly as I opened it.

Casting one last glance at Advik, I stepped into the walk-in closet and closed the door behind me.

Inside, a small sofa awaited me, perfectly sized for my comfort.

With a flick of the switch, I turned off the closet lights and settled onto the sofa, the cool air from the AC soothing against my skin.

Before I knew it, sleep enveloped me, whisking me away to a peaceful slumber.
