SAAIRA

Advik and I reached the main road and got stuck at a traffic signal.

The car was filled with soothing music, and Advik tapped his fingers rhythmically on the steering wheel, humming along.

I glanced at him and noticed how handsome he looked from the side, his well-defined jaw, high cheekbones, and straight nose.

He wore stylish glasses, and my gaze drifted to his lips, where I saw a playful smirk.

Embarrassed, I quickly looked away.

He chuckled softly and said, "I'm yours to stare at, Saaira."

His words made me blush even more, and I didn't dare to look at him again.

I kept my eyes on the view outside the car window, where I spotted a cute puppy sitting by the road.

I excitedly pointed it out to Advik. "Advik, look at that puppy! Isn't it adorable?"

Advik glanced over, nodded with a soft "Hmm," and then, as the signal changed, started driving again.

I continued to watch the puppy until it was out of sight, then reluctantly turned my attention back to the road.

"Why the sad face?" Advik asked, removing his glasses.

"Nothing," I muttered, keeping my gaze fixed on the passing scenery.

Soon, we arrived at the college. Advik got out of the car, came around to open my door, and I stepped out, leaning against the vehicle.

Advik stood in front of me, placing his hands on the car door on either side of me. He looked into my eyes and said gently, "Look at me."

I looked up at him with a questioning expression, but he remained silent.

We exchanged glances, the silence between us thick with unspoken words.

Advik cleared his throat and, with a hint of nervousness, asked, "Is it alright if I give you a hug?"

I was a bit surprised by his words, especially since we were surrounded by students and their parents.

However, not wanting to refuse him and realizing it was just a hug, I nodded. He immediately pulled me into a warm embrace.

I buried my face in his chest, feeling a mix of shyness and comfort, while he gently ran his hand over my head and said, "Take good care of yourself at college. Don't let the new environment stress you out. Just be yourself, okay?"

His words felt more like guidance from a caring father than from a husband.

I chuckled softly, feeling touched by his support. It was heartening to see how much he cared, especially when other parents were also offering advice and well-wishes to their children.

The memory of my parents hit me hard—if they were still alive, they would have been here today, dropping me off at college, offering the same warm advice and encouragement that other parents gave their children.

Tears welled up, and I squeezed my eyes shut, clinging to him in an attempt to hold back the sobs.

Advik immediately pulled away, gently cupping my face to lift it so he could see my eyes.

"Saaira, open your eyes. Are you crying?" he asked softly.

I kept my eyes tightly shut, shaking my head stubbornly.
