Chapter 5: The Sleepover Part 1

Rookie woke up. He sat up from his bed before forcing himself to put on his glasses and get out of his room. He went to his brother's room and shook him awake. "Giz? It's 5 in the morning why are you awake?" Rookie went to open the curtains to see that it's still dark out. "Oops. I uh.. didn't realize that. Sorry Gadget." Gadget just mumbled to himself and went back to sleep. Rookie left Gadget's room. He was already too awake to go back to sleep. He wandered downstairs and looked around the living room to see if there was anything to tidy up. He cleaned up a little since the house is never that messy. He and his brother never worried about having to clean the house for the sleepover. After he finished he went outside. He looked up at the sky. Even though the moon was in the horizon slightly he knew it was a full moon. He howled. Rookie didn't really expect any response from his wolf neighbors since they all usually howl at midnight. The noise echoed as he heard distant howling joining him, to his surprise. The second floor window opened and a pillow was thrown hard at him before the window closed. Rookie stopped howling and yelped instead. He rubbed his head and took the hint.

The sun rose and Rookie was eating breakfast when Gadget finally came downstairs. He grabbed a plate and put pieces of bread in the toaster. "Don't burn the toast again Gadget." Rookie said taking a bite of a morning sausage. "Shut up! It was a one time thing! I replaced the toaster anyway." Rookie walked towards the toaster and adjusted the toaster. "You only put the frozen setting when it's frozen Gadget. We don't put our bread in the freezer." Gadget opened the freezer and threw the bread in. Rookie just stood there in confusion. "Now we do." Gadget grinned. Rookie and Gadget laughed as Gadget got the bread out of the freezer.

SNT finished packing for the trip. Since she was gonna stay in his dimension for a couple of days, she took the time to think on what she should bring. "Thanks for helping me pack Amy!" "Don't thank me. It's not that hard to pack things for a trip you know." "Oh really? Thanks for helping me learn on what to bring for these types of things." SNT smiled causing Amy to blush. "Well.. Go on then! Go to that other dimension where you won't bother me for a while!" Amy shooed S away. SNT left the house. She was about to activate a portal until Eggman flew towards her in his Egg Mobile. "SNT!" SNT jumped and almost activated the portal. She quickly called for backup. "Guys! Eggman's outside Amy's house! I think he planned a sneak attack for me and Amy!" "My house!" Amy ran outside and stopped next to SNT. "Thanks SNT!" Amy angrily said. "Hey don't yell at her!" Sonic defended her. Sonic and Amy started arguing as Eggman's robots started attacking SNT. She started to destroy them with ease. "Guys I don't think it's the best time to argue." Tails said through the communicator. Amy stopped arguing with Sonic and decided to help SNT in the battle. Sonic and Shadow showed up but it looked liked they were racing each other. They both punched Eggman's Egg Mobile. Eggman spun around and regained his balance. He scowled as he sent more of his minions towards the group. Sonic and Shadow started destroying the badniks, accidentally working together as they covered each other's backs. Amy hit the badniks towards SNT who finished the job. Eventually Tails and Knuckles showed up in the Tornado. Knuckles hopped down punching the ground sending a shockwave that destroyed the robots around him while Tails provided support from the air.
Sonic and Shadow stopped next to Knuckles. Knuckles stared at Shadow in confusion. "Why is Shadow on the same line as the hero line-" Knuckles was punched to the ground by a massive robot while Sonic and Shadow dodged the attack. Flames erupted and the robot was pushed back. Knuckles was engulfed in flames angry. "Alright let's give this bot a beat down!" Sonic, Shadow, and Knuckles all charged towards the robot. SNT decided to help the trio with the robot. "Try all you want! But this robot has 2 Chaos Emeralds inside! You'll never be able to stop it now!" Eggman laughed. "2 Chaos Emeralds!" Sonic shouted getting punched, knocking him away. Knuckles kept punching the big badnik with his erupted fists but it tanked the hits with its arm. "We need a Chaos Emerald to at least make a dent inside that thing!" Tails shouted from the sky. SNT realized something. "Wait! Shadow always has a Chaos Emerald on him! If Sonic can make a hole to where the Emeralds are, then me and Shadow can grab them rendering the robot vulnerable." Shadow scoffed. "If it means we destroy this thing." He said. Shadow threw his Chaos Emerald to Sonic. Sonic ran to the Emerald and caught it. Sonic ran to Knuckles and they looked at each other nodding their heads. Knuckles increased the flames around him and started punching the robot again. Sonic went behind it and with the power of the Chaos Emerald, was able to do some damage to it. Eventually a hole was made revealing where the Chaos Emeralds were stored. Shadow and SNT took the opportunity and dashed through the hole and grabbed the 2 Chaos Emeralds. With one big punch, Knuckles blasted the robot away with enough force to blow it up. "What! How!" Eggman yelled. "Easy. With my friends, we can do anything!" Sonic said. Everyone was grouped together but Shadow was a little bit away from them. "Makes sense why you don't understand, seeing as you have no friends Egghead." "I'll beat you all! Your friendship is no match for my machinery!" Eggman flew out of sight from everyone.
SNT looked over to see if her items were okay. They were conveniently fine. She sighed in relief. "Sorry for the mess Amy." SNT said. "You owe me for this! But.. You looked awesome fighting that big hunk of junk." Amy looked away with her face turning red. "Heck yeah she did!" Sonic wrapped his arm around SNT. "It was her plan that helped us defeat that robot." Shadow said pushing Sonic away from SNT. "It was a group effort." SNT said. Tails was extinguishing Knuckles. "You should really go to your friends house now." SNT was cleaning up the broken robot parts but Shadow stopped her. "I don't want this mess to inconvenience you." "Thanks Shadow." Shadow blushed. Sonic got a little jealous and started to clean up the parts while Amy was already putting them in Tails' plane. "I'll make it up to you Amy." Amy just smiled at SNT which caused her to blush a little. SNT finally opened the portal to Rookie's Dimension and she hopped in as everyone waved her goodbye.

Gadget and Rookie were watching TV when they heard the doorbell. Gadget opened the door. "Hi Gadget! Hi Gizmo!" Maria waved. "Sorry I'm a little late. I was deciding on what to bring." "Don't worry about it Maria." Gadget said. "SNT is late to." Rookie turned off the TV. "You can set your stuff on the couch." Gadget walked with her. Rookie got a notification on his phone. He saw it was from an anonymous number. The text said "sleepover without me? That's fine We'll hang out soon anyway." Rookie looked around and for a brief second, out the window he thought he saw Infinite. "Is there something wrong Gizmo?" Maria asked. "Huh!.. i-it's nothing. Ju-just thought I saw someone." Maria got a notification from her phone. Rookie became worried. "Oh it's just Shadow. He would've joined me at this sleepover but he said something came up." Gadget looked a little relieved. "Why would Shadow want to join in on a sleepover?" Rookie asked "He's very overprotective about Maria. Mainly around me." Gadget explained to Rookie, he whispered that last sentence. "How's your job Gizmo? Rebuilding cities are not exactly easy, even if most of them are back to normal." Maria asked. "Well now that most cities are normal again I have more free time. That does mean I'm going to have to find another job soon. I've already planned out a few places and made some resumes." "With my help." Gadget said. "Yeah, I couldn't have done it without him." Rookie admitted.
There was a knock at the door. Maria walked up to open it. "Hi SNT!" SNT walked into the house. "Hi Gadget, hi Rookie!" "Sorry I'm late. I was dealing with some issues getting here." "There's a guest bedroom upstairs." Rookie told her. SNT went upstairs to put her luggage away. "Well what do we do now?" Maria asked. "How about we get to know each other better?" Gadget said. SNT came back downstairs. "What's going on?" "We're just going to introduce ourselves to you. you go first." Gadget told her. SNT thought about what she was going to say. "I would tell them everything but they don't know I'm from another dimension yet. I'll respect Rookie's wishes and let him tell them himself. But that leaves me with so little to say."
She started her introduction. "I'm SNT. I'm strong, really fast, and can fly with my two tails like Tails.. There's not really a lot for me to say. Nothing I can really say without revealing I'm from another dimension." Gadget went next. "Well I'm Gadget! I'm Gizmo's twin brother, obviously just look at us! You can barely tell us apart! I have joined the Sonic Heroes and now do hero stuff with them. That does include working on the Ask The Sonic Heroes show." It was now Maria's turn. "Nice to meet you SNT. I don't know much about who I am. This might be shocking to hear but, I was actually a human. I was sick with something so Shadow was created to cure me somehow? Things didn't go well.. but I'm a hedgehog now! We're trying to figure out things. I want you two to know this about me. I don't want to keep any secrets from either of you." SNT was stunned. Gadget saw the shocked expressions from SNT and Rookie. "Shadow and Maria are trying their best to figure things out." Gadget said.
Rookie felt even more bad about hiding the truth about SNT from Maria and Gadget. "Let's show SNT around the house! We can continue this conversation when you two are ready." Maria said breaking the silence. "Thanks Maria. I don't need a tour. When me and Rookie hang out we sometimes stay here." "There is something I bet you haven't seen. Follow me." Gadget said.
The 4 of them went down to the basement and Gadget turned on the light. "Tada!" He motioned his arms towards a pool table. Rookie looked around in shock. It looked like a Billiard room you'd see in a mansion. "So this is what you were working on while you were remaking the basement? That explains why it took so long for you to finish." "Yeah. It would've been a lot quicker with Mr. Handyman over here but I wanted it to be a surprise for him to." Gadget was pointing at Rookie with his thumb. "No kidding!.. I'll improve the infrastructure later." Rookie teased Gadget "Hey!" Maria and SNT were setting up the pool table. Rookie and Gadget grabbed a cue and clanked them. "Let's do teams for this. Brothers versus Guests." Gadget said. "I'm fine with being on teams for this." Maria said putting the cue ball down. "Who wants to go first?" "We'll let The Guests go first." Gadget said. "I'll go first." SNT went first and with perfect performance was able to get 3 stripped balls into the same hole. Maria was amazed. "Wow your good SNT!" "Thanks!" Rookie looked a little worried. "Right. She's flawless at everything." "Don't be so worried Giz! It was a lucky shot."  Gadget went next and completely missed all of the balls. "Oops." He chuckled. "Is it too late to swap teams?" Rookie asked SNT. "Hey! I'm good at this game I swear!"
