Across the Rift (SNT X Rookie/Gizmo)

Chapter 2: The Visit

Rookie was at cleaning the dishes at his house. Him and his brother just finished eating. While cleaning them, he felt a little glitch for a brief second. "She's here." Rookie thought. He noticed the glitching was barely noticeable this time. Rookie continued what he was doing with the thought in the back of his mind. SNT arrived at Rookie's house and knocked on the door. Rookie opened the door. "Hey SNT how a- AHH!" SNT turned around and saw Infinite behind her. She screamed and backed into the house. "Well well. S..N..T, we haven't formally met before have we." "What's wrong!" Gadget slid down the upstairs railing. He brushed past Rookie. He saw SNT with her guard up and Infinite standing there menacingly. "Oh. It's Infinite." Gadget rolled his eyes. "It appears I've never formally introduced myself to all of you." Infinite went into the house. "Umm.. I guess let's go say hi then?" Gadget said. He walked into the house. "What?" SNT was very confused about what just happened. "Gadget does work close to Sonic so, maybe this is a good thing?" Rookie said.
Everyone went inside the house and Infinite was on the couch. "How are you alive?" SNT asked. "I told you. I am Infinite." Gadget rolled his eyes again. "Now I know what you two must be thinking. 'Why would the greatest villain to ever live and TV Star ever want to introduce himself to nobodies like us?'" "TV Star?" SNT asked. "You know the show that Gadget works for. Infinite's showed up unwanted many times." Rookie filled her in. "You've never watched the show? A former Resistance member like yourself should. You get to learn so much more about your fellow members." Infinite asked. "I uh.. don't watch much tv." SNT lied. "Did you watch the episode where me and Shadow got married?" Infinite asked. "WHAT!" SNT and Rookie were completely stunned. "Giz you didn't watch any re-runs? I even asked you if you wanted to watch it together?" Gadget frowned. "I forgot to! And we couldn't find a schedule to watch it together remember." Rookie blushed in embarrassment. "Why did you marry Shadow!? And why did he agree to it!" "He didn't." Infinite answered. "It was only done so G.U.N wouldn't arrest me, and to annoy Shadow. And tax benefits." The pair sat in silence. "If it makes you feel any better their trying to get a divorce." Gadget shyly added. It was awkwardly silent for a couple of moments before a phone alarm started beeping. "Oh shoot I almost forgot! Sorry for bailing on everyone but I gotta go somewhere." Gadget started walking out the house. "Lemme guess. Maria again?" Rookie spoke up. Gadget turned around "Oh don't make me go there." He grinned. Rookie looked at SNT and blushed. "Okay off you go Gadget see you later bye have a great time with Maria!" He ushered his brother out the door. The air became less tense as the brothers bantered with each other.
Rookie entered the home once again.
"Well I guess you should go Infinite." Rookie commanded. "Wha-huh! Excuse me! I'm a guest now. Don't you know how to treat your guests?" Infinite motioned to himself and SNT. "Look as much as I'd looove for you to stay.. I'm busy." "Oh." Infinite got up. "Then maybe we'll hang out some other time then." He started to walk out the door to the relief of everyone. SNT was suddenly grabbed by a bunch of Infinite's red cubes and dragged towards him! "Ahh!" "SNT!" Rookie ran towards the two. "If I have to leave so does she. Don't worry, I've got some friends I'd like you to meet in Null Space" Infinite spoke. SNT struggled to break out of his grasp. "Let her go!" Rookie shouted. He punched Infinite and Infinite hit Rookie back. SNT suddenly broke free. Cubes flew all around as she perfectly landed before tumbling back a bit. "Interesting. Someone's certainly gotten stronger since I've last seen them. Fine I'll let her stay." Infinite walked out of the house. SNT and Rookie walked out the door. He looked back towards them. "I will be back though. And all of your guests will be there to hang out then 'Rookie'." Infinite warped away in a red flash.
SNT and Rookie sighed in relief. "I'm glad the watch actually works." "What do you mean?" Rookie looked at her. She looked around to make sure Infinite wasn't spying on them. "The Tails from my dimension improved my watch! I now have my powers back!" "That explains the look." Rookie looked at SNT. She had her hair back to normal and her bangs were bigger but still had her green tips. She still didn't have her two tails. The Dimensional Duo went back inside.
"Can I get some water?" "Sure." Rookie sat on the couch. He looked at his watch that this dimension's Tails made. He saw the time and was about to panic. He had something to do at work that day. Then he remembered he had the day off. He started to relax. She closed the fridge. "Did you tell your brother about what happened during the war yet?" Rookie sighed. "No." "Why not!" "I can't! I.. I just don't want him to worry about that anymore." SNT put the water bottle on a small table next to the couch and sat next to Rookie. "You're going have to tell him eventually." Rookie reluctant. "I'll be with you when you tell him to help." Rookie looked at S and smiled. "Thanks." The two looked at each other. They gazed into each others eyes. Rookie was ready to just kiss SNT. He heard whispering all of a sudden.

He saw the pink aura that emanated from her. He twitched in pain a little. "What's wrong?" SNT snapped from her gaze. "Nothing. Just you're reality warping." "Oh no! I thought Tails said he stabilized it better!" "No no, don't worry. It's just your pink aura thing." "Right. I've been trying to understand it more. But without being able to know when it activates I don't know what it does or how to use it. You help me understand it a lot since you can see it." Rookie remembered their training and when he tried to help her control it. "It's surprisingly easy for me to understand it. Your powers remind me of the Phantom Ruby. I just use what I know about the Ruby and apply it to your powers." SNT listened on scooting closer. "Maybe in my dimension I was made with the Phantom Ruby." Rookie scooted closer. "Maybe we should train right now. We were able to finally bring me to your dimension safely! Before we went back since we were scared your dimension would be at risk." SNT laughed. "Yeah. I made it up to you by showing you around this dimension like it was mine." "Didn't really work when we went to the more industrial areas. But it was pretty funny pretending my house was yours." He laughed. "Improvising there was the hardest to do. Get comfy pillows." Rookie laughed some more. "I don't want to train. I just want to hang out with you right now Rookie." SNT said. "Relaxing with you is so nice. It makes my week every time I'm with you." She scooted closer. He blushed. "Umm.. I think I can control some part of your aura though." "Really!" SNT said in amazement. "But it's probably in ghost form." SNT frowned. "Still! It could be useful to try." Rookie took a deep breath before taking off SNT's watch. SNT and Rookie both started glitching before SNT suddenly got teleported to where Rookie was. "Rookie! Are you okay!" SNT shouted to the air. She suddenly saw him. He was now sitting where she was. "I'm fine. Can you use your powers?" SNT closed her eyes and started to concentrate really hard.

Rookie tried to control it like the Phantom Ruby. He was going to make her a bit dizzy as a test. He aimed the energy towards SNT. It was suddenly hard for her to concentrate. The aura went away. "Did it work?" "It worked. I felt a little dizzy." "I did that to test it out." SNT was still disoriented. Rookie looked worried. "Are you okay?" Rookie grabbed SNT's hand instinctively. To there surprise, they were actually able to feel each other's hands. The two were amazed by this discovery.

SNT's aura filled the room. SNT gasped. She could actually see her aura for the first time. Rookie looked around. He tried to see what he could do. "I'm going to see if I can give you your tails in my dimension." "Yeah. Alright." SNT wasn't paying attention. "This whole time. This is what you saw." She stared in awe. Rookie started to concentrate. The aura disappeared. SNT felt something. She looked and saw she got her two tails back. "What the! My tails!" She was amazed. Rookie was proud. "I knew all of our training paid off!" "You've been trying to give me my tails back?" SNT asked. "Yeah. You looked beautiful in your normal form." They both blushed. SNT hugged Rookie. It felt a bit weird being able to hug a ghost but SNT didn't care. She let go and Rookie put the watch back on her. Rookie went back to his normal form. The Dimensional Duo decided to relax and talked about their day.

Gadget opened the door and announced himself. "Gizmo, I'm home!" Rookie saw Gadget holding a slice of chocolate cake. Gadget took notice. "Your gonna have to share with your girlfriend Giz." SNT and Rookie blushed. "W-we're not dating!" "Yet." Gadget mumbled. "So you want some or not. I'm not making dinner." "Dinner? How long have I been here?" SNT questioned. "A couple of hours now." "Hours! Well at least the testing worked. Now Rookie can visit my dimension safely!" "Guess we lost track of time." Rookie said sheeply. Gadget just smirked. "You only brought one slice Gadget? Cmon that's definitely not enough for sharing." "Don't worry Maria brought more." The yellow hedgehog entered the home. "Hello Gizmo! Oh! Hi SNT!" "Hi Maria!" SNT waved. "You two know each other?" Rookie asked SNT. "We briefly talked during the victory party." "Say you look different?" Maria noticed SNT's tails. "Yeah she does." Gadget also noticed. SNT and Rookie got a bit nervous but SNT acted quickly. "So do you Maria." "Oh yeah my hair grew back. I didn't realize you had tails." "I just hide them because I'm embarrassed to let people see them." "She's fine showing them around me though." Rookie added. "Oh really?" Gadget grinned. Maria found that adorable. Maria put the rest of the cake on the kitchen table. "Why don't you join us SNT?" Maria said. "Sure!" The four sat down and Gadget brought out plates. They all started chatting. "Does he ever just barge into your house Maria? He did to ours today." "Not really. Mainly because he and Eggman kind of have a feud with each other now. Eggman should really start paying his employees." "Eggman not paying his employees? What a shocker." SNT sarcastically said. Maria started laughing. "I keep telling him that but he won't listen!" "Wait? Keep telling him! What do you mean by that?" Rookie asked. Gadget and Maria looked at each other and debated if they should tell them.
"Well it's getting late. How about SNT and Maria stay the night? It would be nice if we all hung out tonight." "You're just gonna ignore my question." Rookie got a little annoyed. "I'll tell you later Giz." Gadget brushed it off. "Sorry Gadget. I'd love to stay but I'm busy. How about next week?" Gadget offered. "I'm fine with next week." Maria said. "I'm good with next week. Besides I have to get home before it gets too late." SNT said. "Next week it is!" Gadget said before he took a bite of a slice of cake.

Rookie and Gadget were getting ready to sleep when Rookie asked Gadget a question. "So are you gonna answer my question?" "Shtill thinking about that?" Gadget was brushing his teeth. "Thatsh for Maria to tell you and eshnt." "Of course." Rookie sighed. Gadget finished brushing his teeth. "So. When are you gonna make a move on SNT?" "Gadget!" Rookie blushed. "I-I will. Eventually." "It did look like I was interrupting something." "That! W-we were just..." "Heh. Just tell me the truth Giz. You can't hide anything from me." The twins went to their rooms. "That's for SNT to tell you and Maria." Rookie responded. "Oh har har Gizmo. Goodnight." "Goodnight."
