Chapter 8
Li shi was considered a good mother-in-law in the surrounding villages, with both her daughters-in-law always praising how great she was. She got along well with her daughters-in-law, and even her grandchildren, who loved to be around her and were closer to her than to their busy parents.
Fang shi was straightforward and always spoke her mind, never wanting to get involved in drama. Li shi was very satisfied with her daughter-in-law, choosing her initially for her personality that could handle things calmly and not create conflicts.
Zhang shi was also good but a bit quiet and not fond of talking much.
Fang shi only complained in front of family members. Even if she wasn't happy, she wouldn't show it on her face when she went out, maybe just rolling her eyes when no one was looking.
While she was unhappy about the situation with Old Third Song San, she wouldn't cause a scene like Li shi suggested. It was just Li shi joking around, and Fang shi would just laugh it off.
As for Song Dingxiang, she received the message with a slight smile. She was grateful that fate brought her to this family, feeling sorry for the original owner who couldn't see past their troubles.
Perhaps this was her chance; the heavens saw how difficult her past life was, without anyone to love her throughout her life.
In this stolen life, her parents were alive, siblings were all there, grandparents were loving - what could be better than this?
As for the Third Granduncle, Second Granduncle - forget about them!
After eating and drinking her fill, Song Dingxiang went to the toilet with her little sisters, changed into a new outfit, and covered herself with a red veil as it was getting dark outside. The fabric of the veil was dense, blocking her sight once it was on, leaving her only able to see her hands and the big bag in her hand filled with jujubes, peanuts, dried longans, and lotus seeds from the south.
There was a pair of mandarin ducks playing in the water embroidered on the bag, a handiwork of Jin Qiao'er.
The bustling noise grew closer, and the table in the room had been removed. The young girls ran out laughing, and a sturdy woman stood at the door demanding a red envelope from the groom before they could enter the bridal chamber.
If not, as long as they could persuade her, they could enter.
This made the awkward Zhou Tiezhu quite flustered. He kept bowing to the woman, clumsily pleading until he finally made everyone laugh heartily.
Song Dingxiang couldn't help but smile, thinking he really was just a teenage boy, only seventeen years old.
In the new society, he would still be a child in school. But now, he was starting a family and taking on adult responsibilities.
However, in this new life she was only fourteen, so she couldn't let a seventeen-year-old boy do anything illegal!!
Finally, Zhou Tiezhu entered the room, unsure of what to do with his hands and feet. His dark face turned into a shade of crimson, eyes moist. If Song Dingxiang saw him, she might say he looked like a pitiful puppy that had been through a lot.
"Lift the veil!!" Everyone started making noise.
Zhou Tiezhu trembled as he reached to lift the red veil. At first, he couldn't lift it, and the silky fabric slid off him, causing everyone to laugh.
Finally, on the second try, he managed to lift it, revealing Song Dingxiang's slightly embarrassed yet amused face.
Her big eyes curved with a smile, her rosy lips moist, and her small hands tightly clutching the bag, she stared at Zhou Tiezhu, who looked even more flustered.
