chapter 12.) "poison"
Talia stood proudly in the hotel lobby, in her hands resting a potted plant which held a naturally-grown tulip. Charlie had suggested a 'Show-and-Tell' day for the daily activity, and she had been more than delighted at the prospect of showing off the only plant she possessed that wasn't artificial — it had taken a long, long time to accumulate the necessary conditions for such a plant, and it was certainly a prized possession of hers.
Holding the purple flower in her hand, it was the first time she could ever recall in which she was genuinely eager to stand in front of a crowd. However small, it was still a crowd nonetheless, and she was proud of herself for her eagerness. Yeah! Successfully talking! You can do it! Probably, anyways...
Although she refrained for the current moment, because Angel had surprised everyone by offering to participate first. Charlie, absolutely elated, had immediately agreed — Vaggie had glanced over at her, eyes crinkling in an apologetic expression. Talia offered a soft smile and a shake of her head in reply, simply dismissing it as she placed her precious plant on a nearby table.
He had wheeled in a portable television, messing with a few buttons before eventually turning it on. Talia paused, head tilted slightly as what appeared to be a movie beginning to play on the small screen. Hm... I wonder what this could be...?
...
Okay, what the fuck.
At the vulgar noises which began to emanate from the television, Talia instinctively squeezed her eyes shut; her ears drooped harshly, the doe raising her hands to the fluff in an attempt to block the noise. Humming softly to herself as another layer of noise, she physically winced as she failed to block out the loud moans and obnoxious, desperate pleads for gratification.
"Please, please turn that off," Talia mumbled, unsure if her words were actually heard.
"Okay! Enough of that," Vaggie grumbled, her voice slightly muffled to Talia's ears.
Talia heard the commotion occurring from somewhere in front of her, not fully comprehending it due to the restrictions on her senses placed by her own admission. Eventually, the TV was shut off, Talia hesitating before allowing her hands to fall back to her sides once more.
"Y'know, it's not a very convincing interrogation scene," Husk chimed in bluntly from his spot at the bar.
Angel laughed, the sound hollow to accompany the bitter grin that spread across his face. "Alright, dickhead. What makes ya think ya have any right to insult my work to my fuckin' face?"
