I was just collected from school when the sky turned a menacing gray. A tornado was forming, so close that tiles and debris began to whirl in the air before the tornado retreated.
We were safe, huddled under our desks, our hearts pounding against the wooden surface. The air was thick with fear, the cries of children echoing in the room, their sobs punctuating the eerie silence. They were terrified, their young minds grappling with the thought of death.
Some children, in their panic, ran away... they disappeared into the storm, their bodies later found mutilated by the unforgiving winds. They had been caught in the tornado's wrath.
The drive home was a blur. Rain was pouring down in sheets, obscuring our view of the road. My father, his knuckles white on the steering wheel, decided to continue driving despite the poor visibility. We were on a highway, with no place to stop. My father had to stick his head out of the window just to see.
Suddenly, a bright light pierced through the rain. At first, we dismissed it, but as it drew closer, we realized with a sinking feeling - they were headlights. My father tried to open the door, to escape, but it was jammed.
Our car, old and riddled with problems, offered no protection. The other vehicle crashed into us. I felt nothing... just a numb emptiness. The world around me faded into a silent void.
