Monster (Finnick Odair x Reader)

-Who Could Ever Love A Monster?- -Him, Apparently-

**ARIA'S POV**

I saw Katniss and Peeta not far from us, Katniss yelling for a girl named Prim. 

The shrieks seemed to get closer together and soon Katniss and I were side by side.

My head darts around frantically for the source of the scream. Then Katniss shoots an arrow into the air, and a Jabberjay falls dead to the jungle floor.

Peeta comes up behind me, out of breath, "You... okay?" I see Finnick searching around for me, but he can't find me.

"It's just a..." The scream happens again but this time it's Finnick that bolts off. The scream sounded really familiar.

Katniss follows after him, me not far behind. We find him circling a large tree, looking upwards.

"Aria?!" He yells. My eyes widen as I realized it was me who I heard screaming. My voice that drew Finnick away.

"It's- It's just a jabberyjay." Katniss goes up to soothe him but I'm frozen in my spot. Me? Why me? Why my voice? 

Finnick spins to face her, "How do you think they get that sound? Jabberjays copy!"

Katniss's eyes widen and we hear another scream, a male one. "Gale!" She yells bolting off.

"No!" Finnick yells, grabbing her wrist and tugging her down the hill. 

I get un-frozen and follow them. It seemed like Finnick still hadn't noticed my presence, blinded by fear or something.

Finnick makes it to where Johanna and Peeta are, but Katniss and I get stuck behind some invisible wall. Finnick's eyes widen as he realizes I was right behind them.

He talks urgently to me but I can't hear him, Peeta trying to do the same to Katniss.

Then the birds arrive. One jabberyjay after another swoop down and attack us. Katniss shoots arrows at them but it's not enough. The cacophony is unbearable. 

I cover my ears and collapse into a fetal position, Finnick banging on the wall for me. Katniss quickly followed what I did.

I slowly open my eyes after what felt like days of being attacked, Finnick rushing to my side and Peeta to Katniss.

Tears had streamed down my cheeks and I was shaking. 

Finnick took me into my arms, but I thrashed against them, "No! No!" I yelled.

"It's okay... it's okay..." He mumbles soothingly. "It was all fake, your mom isn't here, it's ok." I cried even harder. She wasn't ok. She was dead.

He attempted to wipe my tears away but I kept crying. Peeta was comforting Katniss in the same way.

Beetee and Johanna stand awkwardly to the side.

"They can't hurt Prim..." I hear Peeta mumble to Katniss.

"Your fiancees right." Johanna starts, "The whole country loves your sister. If they tortured her... did anything to her, forget the districts. There'd be riots everywhere. Even in the Capitol." She starts to yell upwards and my crying slowly comes to a stop as we all stare at her, "Hey! How about that Snow?! How 'bout we light your backyard on fire! You can't put everybody in here!" She throws her arms up to the sky. 

Katniss looks at Johanna shocks and she just shakes her head, "They can't hurt me. There's no one left I love." She looks at me, then looks away, "I'll get you two some water."

Beetee sits next to Katniss, drained, "Well... now we know what happens at four o'clock."

We slowly leave the jungle, emerging back onto the beach. Finnick was holding my hand, occasionally whispering reassuring words into my ear.
