CHAPTER 19

- Important A/N: Hey guys, I have returned :3. For those who don't go on my profile and read my wall/conversation thing, you'll probably wonder why I died for a month. It's kind of pathetic, really— But it's due to lack of motivation. Thanks for all the support on this book, it means so much to me. I just feel bad because of my lack of updates, and I think that's my fault honestly. I spent a lot of time in a few days to prewrite several chapters and it burnt me out. I didn't wanna write at all and felt too ashamed but I am feeling better now, and am going to try and finish this before school starts for me (which is August 15th)! Thank you for reading. <3

The next morning arrives. And not too long after waking up on your own, Tsukasa barges into your room... again.

"[Y/N]! I have breakfast prepared!" Tsukasa spoke with the brightest smile. You kind of wanted to avoid leaving your room until further notice that Rui, Emu and Nene have left.

"Oh, uhm— I'm not hungry right now. Can you save some for me later?" You ask, and Tsukasa nods happily at your request, placing his hands on his hips.

"Of course!! I'll remember to tell Saki to save it for you!" Tsukasa speaks loudly, making you cover your ears.

You just sigh, smiling softly. "Well, thanks Tsukasa.."

Tsukasa smiles back. "You're welcome!" He says, and then leaves and shuts your door.

When Tsukasa left, you just laid down in bed and waited until further notice that Tsukasa's friends have left. You wanted to avoid them as much as possible right now.

Fortunately you didn't have to wait long and they left around 11:30. When they were gone, you grabbed your phone, went to the kitchen and grabbed the breakfast Tsukasa saved for you. You warm it up a little, and then brought to the table to eat. The entire time you ate you couldn't stop thinking of yesterday and how embarrassing it was. Sure, Rui and Nene didn't see you (that would have made it more awkward if so), but even just hearing their conversation made you wanna curl up into a ball and die.

You just sigh, and turn on your phone half-way through finishing your food. You realized you probably shouldn't have avoided Rui earlier because of the project you two were assigned.

"Oh fuck me dude." You murmur under your breath, pulling up Rui's contact. You also remembered how yesterday Rui seemed unsure about Nene's words... maybe texting him first would make him feel better too?

[Y/N]:
Rui? Are you there?
[seen at 11:44]

Rui:
Hm? Do you need anything?

[Y/N]:
Erm, I just wanted to talk about the project if that's okay

[Y/N]:
We weren't able to work on it too much recently, so I wanted to see when we could work on it again. Pretty sure it's due in a couple weeks.

Rui:
Oh, yes.. Well, we could work on it again tomorrow after school.

[Y/N]:
Ah, okay. That works-

Rui:
Alright, good.. Is there anything else you need?

[Y/N]:
I just wanted to know if you're okay

Rui:
Hm? Why?

[Y/N]:
Uhm, I just feel like something is wrong

Rui:
Oh. Well, no— There's nothing, don't worry

[Y/N]:
Are you sure??

Rui:
Mhm.. Anyway should we do what we did last time? You coming over to my place?

[Y/N]:
Yeah sure

Rui:
Okay, I'll see you tomorrow then [Y/N]

[Y/N]:
Yeah, okay.. See you

You turn off your phone, continuing to eat. You could just feel how awkward that was, even through the phone. Dear lord— imagine how awkward it's gonna be when you have to actually meet him in person tomorrow.

When you finish your plate of food, you place it in the sink. You grab your phone and head back to your room, thinking to yourself.

[RUI'S POV]

Hours after leaving Tsukasa's place, me and Nene decide to take a trip to the mall for stuff for our next show. But Nene said she also wanted to look around too, since she's been meaning to buy some new clothes.

Nene and I walk around, trying to decide what store would be good to look around for supplies meant for our next show. We discussed a few things before eventually deciding on a store.

While Nene looked around I happened to space out while staring at some things. I didn't really have any self-awareness as to how long I was like that for, but it was probably a small while— probably about two to three minutes.

"Uh, Rui? Are you okay?" Nene asked, poking my upper-arm. I blink several times, my eyes kind of watering from not blinking for a few minutes.

I cover my eyes for a moment. "Yeah, I'm fine... I just spaced out."

"You must've been out for a while if your eyes are hurting." Nene said. Which was true..

I chuckle nervously, bringing my hands away from my face after I had composed myself. "Sorry, sometimes I just do that."

Nene looked at me. "Yeah, I can tell." She mumbled, going quiet momentarily. "You seem more distant than usual today, Rui. Is the whole thing with [Y/N] still bothering you?"

I freeze in place. Then again, it's probably more than obvious that's what the issue is. "Yeah, sorry. I mean, they did text me and while it wasn't our main topic, they had asked if I was okay. So they don't seem to hate me, but I just... well, y'know?"

Nene paused, unsure of what to say. "Yeah, I know. Uhm, I doubt they hate you. I don't really know them that well, but I feel like [Y/N]'s really happy with you. Sure, even if they didn't reciprocate whatever you feel, they definitely do not hate you— Whether you felt such a way for them or not."

"I doubt they would ever hate you at all, truthfully... Maybe you're just nervous because I guess that's natural when it comes to... things like that but if there's one thing I c-can promise you for sure, it's that they don't hate you." Nene said, looking a little flustered and awkward the whole time she did.

Hearing Nene's words made me feel a little reassured. I sigh in relief. "Thanks, Nene. I really appreciate that..."

Nene looks at me a bit embarrassed, obviously surprised and awkward, but nods. "Uh... you're welcome."
